Arjun has to fight against Bhishma but initially his morals were not allowed him to do so.

Analysis

• Who told Arjun Fighting against his guru is wrong?

- Society & Scriptures → Morals are guided by

these

• Why “Kshatriya Dharma" says he should fight – It is because if Kaurava's rule the kingdom people won't be happy (As Krishna is the God he knows this) - Hence for Dharma's sake he should fight.

→ Ethics is the Choice made based on Moral principles for the greater good.

2. What made us see Arjun as a good person on the first place?- Because he Respects his Elders and He respects his teacher and He was ready to let the Kaurava's be the king for this reason.

• Morals- Shaped by the Society and Scriptures and even religion.
• Values- What an INDIVIDUAL Posses irrespective of Society/ Scriptures/ Religion But yes it they are often influenced by these three.

Examples (Religious)

The “Golden Rule” is a basic tenet in almost all religions: Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim.

• “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” (Hindu)

• “Treat others as you would like them to treat you” (Christian).

• “Hurt not others with that which pains you” (Buddhist)

• “What is hateful to yourself do not do to your fellow men” (Judaism)

• “No man is a true believer unless he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself” (Islam)

Can morals be Bad?

• Can be Good or Bad because it is driven by the Society & Religion.
• Example: Eating Chicken- Considered Immoral in one religion whereas followers of another religion may term it as perfectly fine as their scriptures don’t call it immoral.

Understanding Values (Example)

• Consider a Religion that doesn’t call eating Non Vegetarian food as wrong-
• Person 1- Doesn’t want to eat Chicken at all- Because he doesn’t want to kill innocent animals
• Person 2- Religion doesn’t prohibit hence i will have
• Person 1- Eating innocent animals is wrong
• Person 2- i will eat - Killing should be fine if it is not prohibited in the religion
• We can say they both are morally right but their values are different.

• Set of standards adopted by a set of professionals who are capable of making judgments, applying their skills, and reaching informed decisions in situations that the general public cannot because they have not attained the necessary knowledge and skills

How to Have Everyday Integrity�

• Keep your promises even if it takes extra effort.
• Never betray a friend’s trust even if you get in trouble.
• Inform the cashier he gave you too much change back.
• Do not gossip or talking badly about someone.
• Remain true to your spouse or partner.
• When in a serious relationship, don’t keep secrets from each other.
• Return money that you noticed someone dropped without expecting a reward.
• Do not let someone else take the blame for something you did.
• If someone gives you confidential information, never tell anyone what you know.

Integrity in the Workplace

• Show respect to coworkers with appropriate conversation.
• If you are in management, keep your employees informed so they will know what is coming and what needs to be done.
• Adherence to company policies and procedures. 
• Be responsible. Do what you say you will do.
• Use materials for work and not personal use.
• Work together as a team. This builds trust and shows integrity.
• Never steal supplies from the workplace.
• If you find yourself in a conflict of interest, get out of it as soon as possible.
• Don’t accept praise of acclaim for someone else’s work.
