OBJECTIVES

UNDERSTAND and internalize the concept of evangelization;

IDENTIFY the challenges of evangelization nowadays;

UNDERSTAND the main challenges for evangelization in Brazil.

INTRODUCTION

The necessity to obey Jesus’s imperative for the Great Commission is still a relevant and urgent topic nowadays. There are multitudes of people who need to regret their sins, believe with their hearts and confess with their mouths their salvation.

Characteristics of the comtemporary world bring with them many challenges on evangelization to the various segments of society: that’s what this lesson is about.� �

1. EVANGELIZATION: DEFINITION AND CATEGORIES

Evangelization includes all the processes to proclaim Christ’s good news.

1.1. Urban Evangelization

Urban Evangelization is about all the city, where barriers and unforeseen situations can be transformed into opportunities.

Some urban groups can constitute great challenges for evangelization: gender ideology activists, drug addicts, prostitutes, as well as homeless people.

Those groups, in terms of evangelization, need to be seen with compassion and without prejudice.

It is important to remember that God’s salvation plan is for everyone.

1.2. Evangelization and social networks

The contemporary society doesn’t have geographic or ethic-moral obstacles: instant changes keep happening all the time; relativism and individuality have gotten space and distances were reduced by virtual reality. People have been letting themselves be domained by social networks.

Those virtual means of communication, many times, are used in a harmful way, spreading evil and sinful messages of all kinds.

However, social networks can also be resources to spread the eternal message and bless lives.

2. EVANGELIZATION CHALLENGES NOWADAYS

2.1. Unreached people

Unreached people is a term used to describe ethnical groups that weren’t reached by the Gospel.

According to missionary entity’s reports, there are seven thousand of them in the world. For each of them, there are 600 churches.

There’s the lack of Bible translation for over 2000 laguages and the increase of persecution to christians worldwide are challenges to be beaten. The church needs to rise in this scenario.

3. EVANGELIZATION IN BRAZIL AND CHALLENGES OF MINORITIES

There are people in need to listen to God’s Word, but they’re away from us. However, a good amount of them is around us, in our families, neighborhood, at work or school.

What can we do to reach out for them?

3.1. Developing a love relationship with God’s Word

Sometimes, unacceptable excuses are given to justify the lack of personal engagement to the evangelization process. Despite, all the ones who have the word of faith in their hearts feel compeled to fulfill God’s commandment and share the message of salvation.

3.2. To understand that salvation is

for everyone

In His love, the Almighty doesn’t show partiality. The Scriptures affirm He included all mankind in His salvation plan.

3.3. Being able to obey God’s commandment and evangelize

While building a ship, it is obvious that the idealizers want it to get in the water, for it is its purpose. Likewise, the Church was idealized by God to evangelize. Every believer was reached by the Gospel to share the incomparable salvation blessing.

CONCLUSION

Church has some challenges ahead to be beaten with the same feeling there was in Christ to give himself so that lives would benefit with His knowledge and the salvation only He can provide.

Prejudices and paradigms must be won and broken: people from all social status must be targets of interest by the people of God, so that, by all means, Christ is made known and many beautiful feet can be seen by preaching the Gospel’s good news.
