4 Weeks; Part-Time

Reactor Scouts attend an intensive 4-week online lecture programme covering comprehensive topics as well as intensive skill training sessions about venture investing.

8 Weeks ; Part-Time

Reactor Scouts get seconded to 1 of our partner VC firms or accelerators to learn how to scout for deals on their behalf through on-the-job training and hands-on mentoring.

Reactor Scout Roadmap & Key Benefits

Candidates that successfully complete the whole phase II will get a certificate that can be embedded on their LinkedIn profile.

Candidates that wish to continue their journey as a Reactor Scout will be invited to undergo a Selection & Assessment with Reactor Ventures and our partners.

Candidates that do not wish to continue onwards may be inducted into the Reactor Alumni Network, by invitation.,

Phase II

Candidates that successfully completes phase II will receive certificate of completing VC attachment with a VC partner.
Impress our partners during Phase II: Attachment, and you might just land yourself an internship with them.
Top performing scouts in Phase II will get a Letter of Recommendation from Reactor Ventures.

Upon passing the Selection & Assessment, Reactor Scouts will honour a 6-month commitment to Reactor Ventures from the first day of the Venture Analyst Prep Course. During this 6-month commitment, they will scout for startups on behalf of both Reactor Ventures and our partners.

Upon excellent completion of phase II, selected scouts are invited to become analyst interns at Reactor Ventures and together with us, deliver service to our clients among world-wide startup ecosystem.
Invitations to pitch events, demo days and tech conferences, representing Reactor Ventures and/or our partner VCs, CVCs or Accelerators.
Block leave and black-out periods, so that you can focus on exams & projects.
Commissions for successfully closing business development deals on behalf of Reactor Ventures.
Upon excellent performance, analyst interns are given opportunity to be offered more senior roles at Reactor Ventures.

Step 1: Apply for the Venture Analyst Prep Course

Complete the application form (Est. 20 mins completion time)
If you’re shortlisted, Reactor will send you instruction to join the course. During this course, your performance and commitment will be assessed via a series of micro assignments.

Step 2: Excel in the Phase 0, Phase I, and proceed on to the Selection & Assessment with Partners

You’ll get to indicate which company you’d like to be attached to, but the final assignment lies with Reactor Ventures and our partners.

Eligibility & Commitment

At the point of application, you should be age 19 & above.
You should be willing to commit to a 6-month part-time programme with Reactor Ventures, even whilst in school.
You should be willing to commit the following hours;-

Phase I: Venture Analyst Prep Course - Approximately 2 Nights per Week & Time for Group Assignments. (around 7-12 hours/week)
Phase II: Attachment – Approximately 10 Hours per Week
Phase III: Reactor Ventures Internship– Approximately 10-20 Hours per Week

You must demonstrate the 5 Reactor Core Values: #PeopleFirst, #MoveFast, #BeBold, #HaveFun and #BeAwesome.
A track record in business, finance, tech, entrepreneurship, supporting student founders, venture capital, or the equivalent is a plus.

Special Provisions for Reactor Scouts

During Phase III: Reactor Ventures Internship, you can apply for study leave and black-out periods with your Reporting Officer (RO). This is to allow you to focus on exams & projects. We run an Infinite Leave system and expect you to manage your commitments independently.

During the Summer/Winter breaks, you are allowed (and encouraged!) to take up internships with other employers. However, you are required to remain committed to the Reactor Scout Network on a part-time basis. As you will be handling information that is private and confidential, you are also required to declare all your involvement(s) with Reactor Ventures, the Reactor Scout Network and your prospective internship employers to prevent conflicts of interest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is the Reactor Scout Network different from other student-led VC firms?

The Reactor Scout Network does not replace the integral role that student-led VCs play to develop the startup ecosystem on campus. We work with many student-led entities in the APAC region, including Protégé Ventures, NUS Angel Ventures and Rookie Fund to provide additional, complementary opportunities to their members.

The Reactor Scout Network is different in the following dimensions;-

International Cohort. Our scouts come from all around Planet Earth, and not from a particular country or school. We believe that Gen Z needs to expand their network across markets and verticals.
School & Partner Agnostic. We operate on the concept of Open Scouting, wherein deal sourcing can come from any school, and be forwarded to any of our partners. We are not tied to a particular school or partner.
Fully Independent. We are a fully independent, commercial entity. This means that we do not need to answer to an academic board, and our scouts have full discretion to run bold, agile experiments.
Venture Building. We expect our scouts to have a Founders’ Mindset. In addition to scouting for deals, we have internal processes to support our portfolio startups, which includes performing business development alongside our student founders.

Q: What is the career progression like for a Reactor Scout? Will Reactor guarantee internship? What happens after the 6-month commitment?

Reactor Scouts are considered voluntary trainees during the 6-month commitment and will sign a Traineeship Contract with Reactor Ventures.

Reactor will not guarantee internship placement, but support you with exclusive resource and network that could boost up your chance of successful placement. For scouts that proceed till phase II and phase III, Reactor will open internship introduction option for those who wish to land an internship.

Reactor Scouts that wish to continue beyond the 6-month commitment can apply for conversion to a part-time contract staff at Reactor Ventures, during which they will be paid an allowance.

Reactor Scouts that wish to leave at the 6-month mark will be inducted into the Reactor Alumni Network. The Reactor Alumni Network is a professional development network for students on 1 of 3 Reactor Pathways;-

Students who want to become a Founder at their own Startup.
Students who want to become an Early Employee at a Tech Company.
Students who want to become an Investment Analyst �at a Venture Capital Firm.

Q: What is the commitment like as a Reactor Scout? What are my OKRs like as a Reactor Scout?

During Phase III: Reactor Ventures Internship, you will be reporting to your Lead Scouts, Chief Scouts and a Country Lead. Workloads may vary depending on your division.

At the start of each Functional Rotation, a Squad Leader and Deputy Leader will be nominated from your cohort.

Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) will be set by your Squad. Possible Key Results might include;-

No. of startups scouted that are successfully funneled into the Reactor Pre-Incubator Programme.
No. of Investment Memos forwarded to Partner VCs, CVCs or Accelerators.

The above list is not exhaustive, and we expect it to change based on the leadership of your Squad and the Rotation that you are in.
