What you need to know to percept a BA run:

Bring the Perception L action as a DPS*Pair it with your wisdom or another action

Ask around if you want to learn, plenty are willing to teach!

You’ll get one of 3 pop ups when you use Perception L:

  1. Nothing in range (36 yalms). “Not Close”/”Far”
  2. Not within 15 yalms, but within 36 yalms. “Close”
  3. You did it! You found a trap.

Note: the portal in the pre-AV elemental rooms doesn’t get a unique pop up, it’ll still say trap.

You’ll stay in this tray for most of the arsenal:

Until all the rooms for the support fate have been percepted, or just before AV

Everything else in this guide is extra, that’s the basics, you’ll be fine

Post Art/Owain Stairs:

-1 explosion trap here, in 3 possible locations, in a line across the hallway.

-The safe spot to percept in a little bit past the thick line at the top of the stairs. This spot will hit all 3 locations.

Room where Art/Owain meet up:

-There are 4 bleed traps here.

-They are always in a square.

-This square is usually off-center relative to the room.

-The middle column that extends up the hallway to Raiden never has traps on it.

-The traps can be quite close to the doors you enter from.

Eg: Before/after shots of precepting the fourth trap, we can tell where the fourth one will be in the above shot because they’re always a square.

Room after Raiden:

-1 bleed trap in here

-The Raid/Tanks will want to know if it's near/far to the top of the stairs [“you sense a concealed trap nearby” = near] so they know how careful to be when moving about the room.

-Yell chat is good for communicating with the raid.

-You can move in and carefully move around places you’ve cleared with percept that are out of mobs’ aggro range. Sleeping enemies won’t aggro until they wake up.

Treasure Coffer:

-1 explosion trap, 3 possible locations.

-The spot to safely percept is just past the first square or thin border after the big double line, see red rectangle below.

Example in use. If the trap was in the middle it would’ve been barely in front of me.

First Hallway of elemental rooms:

In these rooms we’re looking for traps, but one of them also has The Portal.

The portal counts as a trap for the pop ups, i.e. if you’ve found all the traps in the room, and percept still pops up “you sense a concealed trap nearby” the portal is in that room.

-The first two rooms, earth and fire, have 0 traps, portal can spawn in the back middle of the room.

-The middle two, wind and lightning, have 1 explosion trap each. Portal can spawn in the back corners of the room.

-The last two rooms, ice and water, have 2 explosion traps each. Portal can spawn in the back corners of the room.

See the visual representation in 2 slides.

Remember to check for portal after you find the traps.

Percept in the middle-back of the room after you’ve found all traps. If it still says “concealed trap nearby” the portal is in that room and you should keep percepting to find it.

First Hallway of elemental rooms cont’d:

The Raid will want to know which room has the Treasure Coffer in it, which is usually the first room cleared because Loot.

Preceptors usually run ahead and check each room for the chest, although Water and Fire are tricky to see from the hallway due to being behind stuff (see the next slide for where it spawns in each room).

Be careful percepting in the doorways as the enemies will aggro on line of sight.

Percept goes through walls so you can percept on the outside corners of the doorway to be safer if tanks aren’t ready. *not useful for fire/earth*

You can let the raid/tanks know if there is a trap nearby for the later rooms with traps so they know how far they can go in to pull.

Ice - 2 traps

Lightning - 1 trap

Wind - 1 trap

Fire - 0 Traps

Earth - 0 Traps

Water & Ice spawn one trap in each “row” - eg if you find one along the back, the rest of the back is safe

Exactly along the line between the two rows of traps is safe - there’s a line on the floor

Remember to check for the portal after finding the traps!

Post-Portal trash room:

1 trap in here.

Again, we percept at the bottom of the stairs and alert the raid if it’s close, then move around percepting until it’s found.

For more information, see the room after Raiden, they’re functionally identical.

Support fate hallway: Water, Ice, Wind and Lightning Rooms

Every room has 1 explosion trap in it, it’ll be next to the blue circle button used to spawn the Support FATE.

You can percept each room in 2 percepts every time:

1: Walk up to the 3rd or 4th cross and percept. If you found the trap, you’re done, if not: 2: Walk up to the edge of the blue button and percept again. This will hit every remaining possible spot for the trap.

That’s it! No more traps

Once the 6 support rooms are percepted that’s it, no more traps*, you can swap off the tray for AV and be ready to be a normal DPS.

*Sometimes the run will want more traps, e.g. if tanks are using Wisdom of the Indomitable and the run didn’t find many before the portal, but there aren’t any traps after AV either way.

Advanced Strats: Wall Percepting

You can percept through the walls in the portal rooms. As the portals can spawn in the back corners for Water, Wind, Ice and Lightning, you can percept next to the walls of their adjacent rooms. If it pops up as something is nearby it might be the portal. I.e.: You can’t wall percept into Earth or Fire, but the four other rooms work.

See next slide for practical example.

Wind

E.g.: Water is cleared, so you can check the wall into Wind. If something is nearby it could be the portal in that back corner. Or a trap.If nothing is nearby the portal probably isn’t in that back corner. This example is called “wall percept into Wind”.

Advanced Strats: Wall Perception Practical Example

Example:

Ice has had both traps found

In the north east corner I still sense something nearby, slightly away from the wall.

The distance is right for the portal.

If it was the thunder trap and no portal, perception would only sense something nearby while super close to the wall.

Additional Info: Earth/Fire rooms range for portal percept

Note: There are a lot of enemies in Fire/Earth and are often facing the door. Totally reasonable to wait for the room to be cleared instead of trying to sneaky check alone if you don’t want to pull enemies onto the rest of the raid.

While you might detect the portal from close to the doorway, best to dash in about halfway to the floor change to be sure you’re covering it.

Note 36 yalm distance.
