Loyalty to the interests of your own region or section of the country, rather than to the nations as a whole.

A feeling of patriotism, pride, loyalty, and protectiveness towards your country.

Sectionalism and Nationalism became more visible after the war of 1812

Nationalism and Sectionalism had two different effects on the U.S.. While Nationalism greatly benefitted the country and brought up its economy, Sectionalism started tension between the North, South, and West. It divided the country which later had lasting effects.

People viewed the ways of their section as the right way and were loyal and defended them
