Multi-grade teams record a story created with their StoryScape.
Teachers and students brainstorm ideas of ways they can use their StoryScape for different types of learning (or)
Ways they could use their new skills for creating additional fun hands on learning experiences.
Grades K-2
Create an Amazing StoryScape of a land that can inspire an amazing movie or story. We’ll use light and sound to create a mood, a message, or an idea.

Let’s make a human circuit
What’s going on here?
Why does it do that?
Can we make a human circuit?
How big can we make a human circuit?
What parts of humans can be used to conduct electricity.
Open Circuit
What happens when we let go?
Let’s make a human switch?
Conductors and Insulators
Will electricity pass through a carrot?
How can we find out?
Let’s predict!
Grab an item from the basket?
Will electricity pass through it?
Let’s test our predictions?
How long a circuit can we make?
How long a circuit can you make where no two humans are touching each other?
Grades K - 2
Day 2
Starting our StoryScape
Place the character to your story mat.
Start your story
In a land far far away there lived….
Create a Character
Create a Character that lights up.
Which part of his body will glow?
In the story, does an event trigger your character to glow?
What does it mean when your character glows? Are they happy, scared, hungry, etc.)
Can you make your LED light?
Explore: Make a safe battery holder
Our goal is to light an LED with a coin cell battery and then make a battery holder that keeps our battery SAFELY covered so it could not be easily accessed by younger learners.
Can we make it so the LED’s can be removed and added to conserve energy?
Can we make it so it stands up and does not fall over?
Button Battery Safety
Never Never put a battery in your mouth or near your mouth!
Dispose of all batteries in a safe way! Ask a grownup where to dispose of it safety.
More info about battery safety.
Create a character that glows
Pick up a small cup.
Select 3 things from the craft table to use in your creation.
K. Create a character so the body lights up.
Create a Character that glows
Grades 1-2
Keep the main part of the inside of your character as empty as possible (to hold a robot)
Create a character so any part of the character lights up.
How would you change the design of the battery holder?
**
Engineering a solution
How can you solve this problem.
Body fairly empty.
Save energy

Add them to your container?
Are the sounds different or the same?
Change the sound your sound shaker makes.
Decorate your Sound Shakers
Decorate your Sound Shakers and add them to your Story Mats.
Tell us a story about your character that includes your sound!
Grades K - 2
Day 4
Code a Traveling Robot
Adopt a robot that travels through your story mats.
Program your robot to travel to a new story mat.
When you get to a new mat. Listen to the new story.
Tell us what you think happens next.
