GOALS FOR THIS EVENING
4
GUIDING PRINCIPLES: LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
5
Create learning environments through our ECH-21 programs that drive change within our district through programming and experiences that help learners collaborate and communicate as they grow to be kind, resilient, responsible, creative and self-aware in preparation for being college, career, and life ready. Coherence Plan | Profile of a Graduate
QUESTIONS TO FRAME OUR LEARNING
Is the existing capacity adequate to service the needs of the district today and in the future? If not, what are the additional space needs required? (Learning Environments)
6
All evaluations assume that the District will continue to place students based on available space, does not change the curriculum, will continue to use the rooms as identified, and that the population changes at the expected rate.
Create learning environments that foster programming experiences for learners to explore trades for career readiness and support our expanding Education for Employment opportunities ensuring accessibility for all learners throughout their high school career.
Coherence Plan | Profile of a Graduate
QUESTIONS TO FRAME OUR LEARNING
What facilities will be required to accommodate visionary programs? (Learning Environments)
7
Create activities and athletics spaces that foster programming experiences for all learners/athletes to engage in practice and competition, offer the ability to support community demand for feeder programs and meet WIAA requirements to host multi-team and playoff events.
Coherence Plan | Profile of a Graduate
All evaluations assume that the District will continue to place students based on available space, does not change the curriculum, will continue to use the rooms as identified, and that the population changes at the expected rate.
QUESTIONS TO FRAME OUR LEARNING
How do we want to approach the ~$96 million of district-wide maintenance over the next 10 years? (Infrastructure)
8
Provide secure entrances and ADA compliance throughout our schools to ensure equity in accessibility to serve our entire community.
Foster pride in our schools by bringing HVAC, roofing, windows, doors, and other infrastructure up to age standards with the goal of energy efficiency and longevity ensuring we are stewards of district resources.
Coherence Plan | Profile of a Graduate
All evaluations assume that the District will continue to place students based on available space, does not change the curriculum, will continue to use the rooms as identified, and that the population changes at the expected rate.

STAFF SUPPORT / STUDENT SERVICES | Staff wellness. Distributed professional collaboration areas near learning environments & remote hotelling offices. Expanded student services. |
CTE / FCS / EXPERIENTIAL | Open work space & adequate ceiling heights for equipment & projects. Adequate material & project storage. Expanded space for course offerings. |
LIBRARY / MEDIA CENTER | Large group instruction & small study spaces. Appropriate technology. |
STUDENT COMMONS / CAFETERIA | Central access and variety of spaces conditions for student accessibility. Common areas for community and instructional uses (flexibility / multi-purpose) |

EDUCATIONAL SUITABILITY: DEFICIENCIES
16
CORE CURRICULUM / COLLABORATION / BREAKOUT / SMALL GROUP | Most classrooms do not have access to collaborative spaces directly outside of classrooms. Many classrooms are undersized for flexible teaching within classroom spaces. |
SPECIAL EDUCATION | Calm rooms are not available. Life skills rooms are outdated. Entire school is not ADA compliant to today’s standards. |
STAFF SUPPORT / STUDENT SERVICES | Staff wellness is not available. Professional staff collaborative areas are not available. |
CTE / FCS / EXPERIENTIAL | Lab spaces are undersized and outdated with minimal access to daylight and visibility to all students. Ceiling heights cannot accommodate large projects and storage is limited. |
LIBRARY / MEDIA CENTER | Not conducive to modern technology and need for student study/tutoring rooms. Oversized space - not all utilized. No makerspace. |
STUDENT COMMONS / CAFETERIA | Cafeteria cannot function for multi-purpose uses due to its location in the building. Only location where food can be served. Inadequate for certain community events. Student commons is not directly connected to useable space, so functions more as a large hallway. |
PHYSICAL EDUCATION / ACTIVITIES / ATHLETICS | Physical education spaces are very undersized, limiting scheduling & curricular options. WIAA competitions cannot be held at the school. |
OUTDOOR SPACES | Site is maximized. Tennis courts do not exist on-site. Practice fields are limited. Parking is lacking. Storage is lacking. |
