Writing | At the end of module 9, students will reflect on conservation by writing an opinion essay that tells why it is important to care for our planet and what environmentally friendly actions individuals can take.

Math | This month, students will finish up Measurement- Topic 13, converting customary and metric units. Then, we will explore the ‘Stepping up to 5th Grade’ lessons which include comparing and adding decimals. |
Science | Students will build their understanding of the water cycle through different models that are shown or experienced. They will participate in a culminating activity , creating their own model of the water cycle from the viewpoint of a water molecule including the processes, the energy involved, and gravity. |
Social Studies | In Social Studies , we will continue to learn about how New York continued to grow and change after the Civil War. Students will learn about the lives of immigrants during the 1800’s and 1900’s , the rapid growth of new industries , and the spread of cities. |
Social Emotional Learning | This month classes will focus on responsible decision-making and the ability to make smart, ethical, and safe choices for themselves and others. Students will learn strategies to make responsible decisions, understand how to analyze situations first so that they can identify and solve problems, evaluate any possible outcomes of their choices , and reflect on how their decisions impact others |

Students will continue to focus on identifying ideas, text and graphic features, and author’s craft, in order to better understand unfamiliar texts..
