Book Club Meeting Groups - Set Up

You will be randomly assigned a group today for your book club.

Bring your choice novel, printed preparation, a notebook, and a pencil; leave everything else at your desk.

Form a tripod with your group members and prepare to discuss your novels.

1. Start by introducing yourselves and engaging in some brief, friendly small talk to get comfortable as a group.
2. Go around and give the group some information about your novel--what is the premise? What are some of the key plot points and themes so far? What are you enjoying about it so far?
3. Read the quote you found significant from the first section of your novel, then discuss why you found the quote central to the novel so far. Then discuss each quote as a group.

1. Discuss your novel by sharing what has happened in the novel so far, talking about the quote you found significant, and just generally talking about your book.
2. Then share your thoughts on the prompt, using the quote you chose from your novel to support your thoughts. Then open up the discussion to talk about how you might answer this question if you were to encounter it as an essay prompt on the AP test.

Choose a character in your novel who is alienated and determine the reason(s) for which they are alienated.
