The Lead4Change Project

The Lead4Change Project showcases the growth of students as leaders and offers students a chance to earn real dollars for their school or community.

The lessons in the Lead4Change curriculum help students create a service project that addresses a community or school need and encourages students to develop a solution to support that need. At the conclusion of the lessons, students report on their Lead4Change Project with the opportunity to ask for a specific amount of money, up to $10,000, to fund their service project or improve it.

Educator Reflections

How did the Lead4Change experience affect you?

“I am just humbled. I get to see students take on new roles, find confidence, build community and make big things happen right here on our own campus. I love teaching because I love to help students find their ah ha moments, find their passions and feel confident in what’s next for them. Lead4Change makes me feel so blessed that we have students who are equipped to lead communities and organizations with people at the center as well as be a positive example of citizenship.”

Educator Reflections

How did the Lead4Change experience affect you?

“I teach in a district in which nearly three of four students grow up in poverty. The realities of poverty too often subtract from my students' belief in their ability to truly make an impact in this world. We talk frequently about "breaking the cycle." For my students to do this, it takes a significant level of belief in themselves, and that belief does not materialize without experiencing significant self-driven successes. These are the moments in which students see they have a real place in this world, that they are capable of being seen on a large scale and making a difference that is widely felt. For many of my students, participating in this project has been that moment. They see that they are making a difference, and that certainly leads to a higher level of self-confidence. I really do believe that this can be a life-changing moment for many of my students.”
