INTRODUCTION

This lesson plan is designed to build the students' background knowledge of Modern Chinese history and learn the difference and similarity between Chinese and American cultures.

Main Driving Question: How can we as American young generation show our knowledge about the Modern Chinese History to the native speakers in a respectful way?

1. Students will analyze the impact of the Modern Chinese History had on the development of the human being society.

2. Students will compare and contrast cultures from China and the United States.

3. Students will improve their social emotional skills while doing this collaborative project presentation.

1. Introduce the project with essential questions and discussion of different kinds of

governments and different political systems and how length of histories varies

from country to country. Have students take a pre-assessment survey via Google Form for collecting their previous knowledge on this topic, and help them set individual learning goals based on the two class learning goals.

2. Give students a handout explaining the project. Go over the directions.

3. Have students choose and form book study groups based on their own interests by chapter.

4. Students will work together on planning for their presentation. Students will be given some class time to work on their presentation and they are encouraged to meet before or after class to plan.

5. Groups will choose a day to present, and add the date to the Presentation Schedule.

1) Form a 3-4 members study group with your 同学 or 朋友

2) Pick ONE of the tasks listed in a shared Google Doc posted below after a group discussion. No more than two groups do the same task.

3) Set a group driving question which helps you all answer the big driving question and focus on your final product. Post it on class record
