Shunting Neck Extension
The scope of work at SUW station includes several key enhancements to improve operational efficiency. This includes adding an additional loop line, shifting the goods shed from NSZ, and constructing a fourth line between SUW and NSZ. Long haul loops in both directions and an extended shunting neck will enable efficient loco reversals and changes without disrupting main line movements.

RANI KAMLAPATI (RKMP)
Severe Land Constraint
The RKMP station is heavily surrounded by residential areas, severely limiting the scope for expansion. The existing land has already been allocated, making further development challenging.
Operational Challenges
Shunting of rakes blocks the main line movement, leading to heavy detention of goods trains in this area. The station's infrastructure is struggling to keep up with the growing traffic demands.
Planned Improvements

| | |
MISROD (MSO)
Additional Loop Line
Constructing a new loop line at Misrod station will increase operational flexibility and capacity to handle growing traffic demands.
Shifting of Track Machine Siding
The existing track machine siding at Rani Kamlapati (RKMP) station will be shifted to Misrod to optimize yard operations.
Fourth Line Addition
A crucial fourth line will be added between the Mandideep-Misrod-Rani Kamlapati section, significantly boosting the network's capacity and traffic flow.
| | |
| | |
MANDIDEEP (MDDP)
Additional Loops and Shunting Neck
The development plan includes the construction of two additional loop lines at Mandideep to enhance operational flexibility and accommodate increased traffic. A dedicated shunting neck will also be built to facilitate efficient train movements.
New Running Room Facilities
To support the growing workforce, the plan calls for the development of a new running room at Mandideep. This facility will provide a comfortable and well-equipped space for railway personnel to rest and prepare for their duties.
Fourth Line Addition
A crucial component of the plan is the provision of a fourth line between the ODG-MDDP-MSO section. This additional line will significantly increase the capacity of the network and enable the smooth movement of both goods and passenger trains.

Enhancing Goods and Passenger Operations
Goods Traffic Growth
The development plan takes into account the expected increase in goods movement, particularly with the commissioning of the RMA-BPL new line. The infrastructure enhancements at terminals like NSZ, MDDP &SUW aim to facilitate the smooth handling of goods trains, including loco reversal and loco change, without disrupting the main line traffic.
Passenger Amenities
Alongside the focus on goods operations, the development plan also emphasizes the importance of creating a world-class infrastructure and enhancing passenger amenities. This includes the provision of additional platforms, circulating areas, and foot overbridges at key stations to improve the overall travel experience for commuters.
Integrated Approach
The development plan adopts an integrated approach, addressing the needs of both goods and passenger transportation. By optimizing the signaling system, increasing capacity, and improving terminal facilities, the plan aims to create a seamless and efficient railway network that caters to the diverse transportation requirements of the Greater Bhopal Region.

Cater Footfall
To cater above footfall, division needs more PFs, Big stations/yards
2
Bhopal Junction – Operational Bottleneck
In connection with this , division found BPL station as a operational Bottleneck.
3
Mega Coaching Terminal
Future need is Mega Coaching Terminal (MCT)
4
Some parameters were set by division to explore possibility of MCT and found NSZ as most suitable.
