SCHOOL COUNSELOR RECOMMENDATION LETTERS

Follow the college’s directions for number and type of recommendations. Letters are optional for some colleges; talk to your counselor about whether you should submit one.

Some colleges DO NOT read recommendation letters; do not send to those schools.

To request Counselor Recommendation Letter

    • Complete School Counselor Rec Questionnaire (REQUIRED)
  • Be detailed as possible; please share what you would like your school counselor to focus on; the more we know about you, the better!
      • *The Common Application asks you to “invite a recommender.” You will type your counselor’s name and email address in that section, and they will upload your letter through their account. (use fcps.edu account)
    • Include questionnaire with Transcript Request Form (first submission) at least 4 weeks before the earliest deadline

To request a Teacher Recommendation Letter

  • Talk to your teacher and request a letter 4 weeks before the earliest deadline
  • Submit any forms your teacher requires

Student Responsibility
