Cassandra Tesch, Dean of Attendance

You will not be able to attend Prom if you have:

  • over 30+ unexcused PERIOD absences between August and March.
  • Have 2 or more CUTS.
  • any suspensions January-March automatically disqualify Juniors and Seniors for prom, regardless of attendance status.

Students who do not qualify have already been informed and have an opportunity to get off of the prom exclusion list. They have to make sure to pay their attendance debt by doing tutorial make ups, clearing all future absence and making sure to complete the number of tutorial make up hours necessary to have under 30 unexcused absences.

12 of 30

How to get off the prom no-go list

Students with a suspension from January-March cannot be removed from the no-go list.

  • Do the MATH: Count up all your unexcused absences on Infinite Campus and subtract 30. The total remaining number is how many hours of make-up tutorials you need to complete by March 4th.
  • REPAY ATTENDANCE DEBT: Attend CCC, Black Scholars or any tutorials. Each 1 hour = 1 tutorial make up. Make sure you remind your tutors to verify with attendance that you were present for tutorials.
  • TRACK YOUR IMPROVEMENT: Pick up an attendance card from the attendance office and complete it and submit it to Ms. Tech's mail box. This will show that you are working towards improving your attendance and she will know to watch your attendance for improvement.
  • REMEMBER: Please note that an attendance card in and of itself does not clear attendance - it's a tool to support you in accountability
  • EXCUSE NEW ABSENCES: Please do not get more unexcused absences, have guardians email attendanceoffice@berkeley.net within 5 days to excuse your absences.
