File| Structural Geology Applied to Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production
OBJECTIVES
•Provide professional training and theoretical-practical updates that contribute to the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of deformation applied to its mechanical definition.
•Evaluate different continuous and discontinuous structures from a mechanical perspective.
•Recognize the relative chronologies between sedimentary, tectonic processes, and associated petroleum systems.
•Address the multiscale treatment of geological data obtained from different working methodologies.
•Discuss the applications, advantages, and limitations in the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons.
CONTENTS
•Basic Mechanical Concepts: Introduction, scope, and objectives of the course. Basic properties of rocks and sediments. Basic mechanical concepts of deformation. Angular relationships and terminology of structures related to stress fields.
•Geomechanical Characterization of Reservoirs: Naturally fractured fluid reservoirs. Fundamentals of micro tectonics. Geomechanical characterization. Research methodologies. Final discussion.
•4D Morphotectonic Analysis of Sedimentary Basins: Tectosedimentary environments. Extensional, compressional, and complex tectosedimentary environments. Transcurrent tectosedimentary models. Simple physical modeling. Conclusions.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Geologists and geophysicists involved in exploratory and production activities related to hydrocarbons.
METHODOLOGY: Theoretical-Practical. Videos, printed materials, promoting both individual and group discussions and exercises.
MODALITY: In-person.
DURATION: 56 theoretical hours (Optional: Field School).
