Ready, Set, Let’s Go !

Welcome to your 6th Grade Classroom for Science! This course will focus four core areas of science; Physical Science (PS), Life Sciences (LS), Earth and Space Sciences (ESS) and the Engineering, Technology and Application of Science (ETS). We will explore the value of science in our lives by investigating real-world scenarios.

There will be challenging concepts throughout the year, but we will work together as a team to get through each concept and develop them to proficient understanding, connecting them to science and everyday situation. By being positive, putting in the effort and working hard everyday, you WILL excel in this class. I am always here to lead, guide and help you along the way.

Classroom Policies

Homework

Homework will be assigned occasionally. Unless otherwise instructed, homework is due the

next day at the start of class. It is your responsibility to keep up with and turn in your homework.

Turning in Assignments

For every assignment, make sure the following are on it:

  1. Your Name
  2. Date
  3. Your class period circled

Late Work

Late work will not be accepted after five days from the original date of the assignment. Assignments

are due at the end of class or expected to be turned in at the beginning of class the next day. Late

assignments are subject to a point reduction per day (max 5). After the 5th day, late work will no

longer be accepted.

Absent Work

Absent work will follow the KiMS and district policy. For each day, the student is absent, they have that

many days to make up the work. Students are responsible for collecting their absentee work, which

can be retrieved from the classroom filing system for each day that you were not present.

You are responsible for retrieving any missed notes from the class notes and from Google Classroom.

Any tests/quizzes missed will be made up the following day. Work that is missing will receive a

zero in the gradebook for that assignment until it has been submitted. Late work will be graded as soon

as I am able to get to it.

Cheating/Talking During Assessments

There will be ZERO tolerance for cheating or talking during assessments. If caught talking during

an assessment it will be considered cheating.

Attendance/ Tardy Policy

Attendance is important and is directly related to your success in this class. To be successful,

students need to be in attendance and on time to each class each day. Students are responsible

for all the work that they miss. It is hard to make up class instruction.
