Tinkercad. You can use tinkercad to create anything. If you have no experience in tinkercad, don’t worry. It is simple to use and you can always practice.

The explanation of ‘Tinkercad’

Tinkercad is a 3D design software where you can make basically anything. You can either make the most complex stuff ever, or you can make the simplest stuff ever.

Your account.

You will need to sing in to a class either waikowhai or waitemata if you were one of the first fifty to sign up do the Waikowhai code if not do the waitemata code.

Moving the camera.

Moving the camera is simple. Just (Holding right click) drag your cursor around. Or just drag the little square in the top left corner.

The basics!

On this slide we will be teaching you how to change color, shape, height, width and if it's a hole.

  1. First of all grab a shape of choice from the side bar. If you can’t see the sidebar, then look for a black arrow on the right side of the screen. Click it, and shapes will appear. Click & drag one out to move on to the next step.
  2. Shape (Height, width eg.) Now that you have your part, use the black dots beside the shape and the white dot above the shape to alter size, height, and width. Use the black triangle hovering above your shape to change altitude. Now move on.

Holes and grouping.

To group your new shape with another, drag in the other shape and using left click, drag your cursor around the two shapes. To put a hole in your shape, drag in one of the shapes that looks like this → move it to where you want and group. To group shapes together, drag your cursor around the shapes and then click this icon →

To unlock your true creativity, try to use more parts. Click on ‘Basic Shapes’, which is located here → and then use what you can find to make what you want.

Rotation.

Now that you have the basic idea of what to do, you shall need to know how to rotate stuff. Use the little double arrows above your shape to rotate. Now go out there and have fun!

LEGO & Minecraft

Once your design is complete, click on the lego brick or the minecraft pickaxe to turn your shape into something blocky. Use these icons → To to to change complexity. Us the layers icon in lego mode to see how to make your new design with bricks.

Part collection

To save a part for later, switch from basic shapes to part collection. Click on the shape you want to save (If multiple parts group first) and then click add shape. Name it something, and you’re done.

Scribble

In the parts menu, you might see scribble. Drage this shape in and draw whatever you want, to receive a nice picture like this →
