Catalyst for Change brings the viewer to the heart of Tulum; a city at a social and environmental crossroads. In the last 50 years, unsustainable foreign investment in the Riviera Maya has caused catastrophic damage to its unique ecology and impressive biodiversity.
Fortunately, a revolution appears to be gaining momentum. Led by a group of visionaries, Regenerative Communities are rethinking societal structures to create a more conscious, sustainable and circular lifestyle. Tulum has now become a culturally diverse hub, that could serve as a microcosm of a new world vision.
This documentary dives into breathtaking stories on the frontier of sustainable innovation including: bio architecture, renewable energy, agriculture, water scarcity and waste management. Inspired by ancestral wisdom and embedded in existing technologies, this film will form a blueprint for regenerative living around the world.

Stephen Rodan is an emerging leader in science, technology and engineering. A NASA JPL engineer and MIT graduate, he is the inventor of an acclaimed coral farming robot called CHARM and president of the Beyond Coral Foundation.
Nico and his partner Roxi Shohadaee are currently designing a regenerative community called Shangri-La. They also run the Design Science Studio, which hosts various regenerative artist projects to accelerate the cultural shift. Their goal is to inspire an entire generation of creators, system thinkers, and (r)Evolutionaries to imagine what’s next.
Kelly is the founder of New Earth Now. She is an expert in designing regenerative communities, city infrastructure and new societal operating models. Her company develops regenerative, self-sustaining, zero waste, net positive eco-homes, communities, centers, and cities around the world.
Sam is the co-founder of KAN industries. Their first project Kan Tulum showcases every aspect of sustainability, from architectural design, to construction to operations. KAN prides itself on having a clearer vision of the word "Green" showing that sustainable living and luxury are not mutually exclusive.
David runs an eco development company in Tulum, leading a number of innovative projects such as Green Dream and Yo Soy.
Sofia is the project manager of Green School Tulum. The expansion of a a global educational movement to raise future visionaries, environmentalists and changemakers.

This documentary engages with pioneers at the forefront of the regenerative movement through a combination of interviews, fly-on-the-wall cinematography and archival footage. The film will paint a realistic vision of a regenerative future, to inspire widespread social and systemic change.
We get a behind the scenes look at the unimaginable challenges that come on the frontier of sustainable innovation. What we do in the next decade will change the course of our species forever. The character arcs will juxtapose success, progress and electric highs with mistakes, doubts and moments of quiet reflection to build dramatic tension.
This approach will ground the films underlying principles in highly evocative character driven storytelling.
Camera movement: reflects the energy in any given scene.
Transitional flow: drone shots and time lapses will work well here.
Animation: to illustrate key data points and complicated processes.
Color theory: lends itself well to the development of �mood in the film. Production days will seek variable weather patterns to enhance emotion with pathetic fallacy.
Edit: quick style cuts used to increase rhythmic pace, in contrast with longer more contemplative sequences.
Interviews will always have a second camera that is either free floating or on a tripod depending on the subject matter. Interesting locations and backdrops will supplement character development (lamps, keepsakes, book shelves). Composition will be very tight to create claustrophobia when discussing issues and challenges. More room will be given for narrative focused on solutions.
Lens variation will be used to drive key story elements.

Andrés considers himself to be a Researcher of Truth, studying the universal laws and principals. Once a lawyer, he now runs a youtube filmmaking team and just finished his first novel called “The Gift.”
