  • “Natural Helpers” are volunteers who assist immigrants and refugees transition to life in Indianapolis. As immigrants themselves, they understand the challenges that come with moving to a new place, such as learning a new language, finding employment, and establishing their home in the U.S. Reuben Education Series Every year, Immigrant Welcome Center through its Reuben Education Series convenes multiple live discussions on topics ranging from immigration policy to public health, language access to housing, where immigrant leaders share their thoughts and expertise with the community.

English Language Literacy

The English Language Literacy program is focused on creating, providing, and sustaining English classes for those immigrants who are beginning learners. Recent Immigrant Welcome Center research revealed the need for more classes for learners with limited schooling and literacy skills and more training for teachers. Our goal is to get these learners to the starting line.
