  • Mentoring will often look slightly different for everyone depending on what they need. It is not designed as additional tutoring for students with their teachers.

Individualised Senior Student Pathways Plans

  • All Year 12 students were invited to complete a survey outlining their goals and aspirations for life after graduation.
  • These responses have been compiled into individualised Senior Pathway Plans which are used by teachers and support staff to assist in achieving what they have set out to do.

Pathways - Careers and Transition

Targeted support:

  • Senior Pathway Plans - these allow us to target and create initiatives that support specific pathway goals and interest areas

  • They also allow me to provide everyone with up to date requirements and information regarding specific industries and study areas (Examples: Education, Medicine, Vet Science)

Pattern of Study Interviews.

  • The main purpose of our interview will be to ensure you have a valid, appropriate and suitable pattern of study for you in your HSC year.
  • We want to ensure that you are not removing a subject that is recommended or required for your post school pathway.
  • There will be many other opportunities to review your pattern of study throughout the year.
  • You are not required to make decisions during this specific window.

Pathways - Careers and Transition

Altering your pattern of study

  • You may wish to change a level in English or Maths.
  • You may wish to “drop” a subject that is not required for your HSC/ATAR.
  • This process is on a strict timeline and requires you to complete key tasks.
  • June 30th, 2026 is the FINAL day for altering your pattern of study.

41 of 51

Steps to change your pattern of study

  1. Book your interview time via the booking sheet– link accessible on your CANVAS hub
  2. Attend your interview with Mrs Lumb.
  3. If your pattern of study is viable you will then need to collect signatures from:
    1. Current classroom teacher.
    2. Your parent/carer.
    3. Your Deputy Principal (Mr Maher)(he will want to know why)
  4. Once complete – Take the complete form to Mr Redding (A Block – Front office OR Senior study.)

No students should move to the study without collecting their timetable.

Expect to be sent to class if you are not on the roll.

42 of 51

Key Points

  • Students will not change classes or proceed to the senior study without a timetable change.
  • The dates set in this process are centred around the NESA requirements.
  • Students will be offered multiple opportunities to alter their pattern of study, not just this one.
  • The student drives this process.

Disability Provisions

Some students have diagnosed conditions that result in challenges to their learning. These students need an equitable opportunity to demonstrate what they can do. As a result, students can apply for disability provisions to support their learning and assessments.

School based disability provisions may include:

  • Extra time
  • Separate supervision
  • Rest breaks
  • Reader
  • Writer/Scribe
  • Use of assistive technology

If you believe you should be considered for disability provisions, please contact either your Learning and Support Teacher (LaST) or HT Wellbeing.

Supporting Evidence for Applications

Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, all schools must ensure that students with disability are able to access and participate in education on the same basis as other students.

School determined adjustments will not necessarily apply in the HSC exams. For HSC exams, each application is assessed to ensure consistency and accuracy across the entire HSC cohort. NESA has panel of specialists including medical practitioners, educational psychologists and consultants for the visually and hearing impaired.

Each application must provide:

Evidence of a diagnosed disability NESA medical, vision or hearing form(s) need(s) to be completed by a qualified health professional relevant to the condition(s). This must include the health professional’s comments regarding the impact on the student’s ability to access and respond to questions in an exam situation.

Functional evidence – specific measurable data that demonstrate the level of impact in an exam situation. For example, reading results, spelling results and writing samples that meet NESA requirements as outlined on the NESA application. The evidence must be relevant to the provisions requested – for example there is no need to provide writing samples for a student with reading or spelling difficulties.

Teacher comments – these must show how the student’s disability affects them and how provisions implemented at school address their needs in reading and/or responding to exam questions.

Need Help With Your Application?

  • The HSC disability provisions application is a collaborative process between medical practitioners, students/families and the school.
  • Students currently receiving disability provisions, and their parents will be sent an information pack by mid November. Students not currently receiving these provisions? Feel you may be eligible??

Please let Ms Outram know asap. Email - robyn.outram@det.nsw.edu.au

What is special about Year 12?

  • End of School Journey: It's the final year of high school, and students feel a sense of accomplishment and anticipation as they near the end of their school journey.

  • Milestones and Traditions: eg. Graduation ceremonies, formals, fundraising. These make the year memorable and enjoyable.

  • Strong Social Bonds: By Year 12, students have often formed close friendships and strong bonds with their peers. There's a sense of camaraderie as everyone experiences their "last" moments of high school together.
