New partnerships

Participants would be more interested to take part in the contest, if there is something new - it is especially motivating for long term contributors, and it creates enough chances for new participants to compete. New audiences are reached

Having a dedicated special prize is something to offer a partner. For example, regional authorities might be interested to award with local souvenirs and certificates works dedicated to their region / city, as it can promote them

Special prizes can be about some aspects or regions or minorities that were less prominently promoted before. It motivates people who had content (but were not interested in the contest before) or people who have opportunities to create that content now

Partners can introduce to new opportunities, work on a joint project / grant later. After the Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest, you can organise a writing campaign, an illustrating campaign, or content donation with their support

Special prizes can lead to:

New content

New participants

New connections & ideas

Over the years we had a lot of special prizes. For example, in 2013 we had a special prize dedicated to… Musical monuments of Ukraine. We partnered with Chestnut Piano International Festival and we promoted taking pictures of the monuments connected to music - buildings and places where music is played, created; where a composer or famous singer were born or lived, etc.

Special prizes can highlight cultural heritage

…and bring out very interesting aspects

…and it also motivates participants to learn more about monuments :)
