  • Team incentive system are an important part of the team practices and can play a major role in members journey and allows them to remain motivated.

  • We want to maintain efficiency while we align our members’ contribution & empower them to achieve more.

  • The main idea of the Team incentive system is drive forward the team as individuals and make sure that everyone is engaged .

Understanding the effect

  • Team incentive system is basically a Reward and Recognition system that aims at boosting engagement and performance. An incentive system can be local (a system of recognition for the whole LC), functional (a system of recognition for each functional) or team-based (a system of recognition for each team)

  • Team incentive systems are a set of actions coming after results evaluation.�It aims to provide proper evaluation and recognition that increases efficiency of the members. It should boost their engagement, affect retention rate or even help push forward the pipeline.

  • As a Team Leader, you should implement a reward and recognition system that complies with your team objectives and individual contribution from your members, making them invest in their aiesec experience keeping them ready for upcoming challenges.

What is it ?

The key components of a good incentive system are :

1. Clear KPI and MoS including why I should recognize the members [ Per example : % of tasks achievement/approvals. fulfillment of MoS such as implementation of team strategies and advancement . Contribution to team goals and spirit etc ]

2. Criterias of recognition: including how I should recognize them. We suggest you use a double way approach: Reward and Recognition tools Using points systems based on type of achievement they fulfill , and follow it with social recognition through posters or newsletters. Gifting tools where Always try to use some of the budget to provide symbolic yet meaningful rewards such as bracelets, t-shirts or personalized goodies to concretize the recognition and make it last longer.�

How to do it ?

  • Use One-2-Ones in order to recognize member’s results. Highlight the connection between achieving a goal in order to develop your personal hard & soft skills.

  • Use the Incentive System as a motivation for people to aim for higher goals, thus improving their performance and development. You can push their journey by recommending them using the endorsements and referrals as a supportive way to recognize their performance and their efforts.

Why it’s important

  • Introduce it in Week 3 during Team Meeting/Weekly Review. Followed up weekly in Team spaces.

  • Keep in mind we need to recognise and reward results, so hard work is nice but it needs to lead to a tangible result.

  • Make your team’s goal clear : Each and every single one of your members should have a weekly goal and based on the P/A of this goal you should recognize your members.

  • Make a record of who was been rewarded: Keeping track of member achievement can help you identify high performers and those who need extra help. Report quarterly the winners and build this culture.
