AP US History

  • Anyone may enroll

  • Must pay for the test (this year $104).
  • No fee for the class or the textbook.

Dual Credit US History

  • Must pass TSI test (or use SAT/ACT scores) to be able to enroll at Lone Star College
  • Must pay tuition to Lone Star College and purchase the textbooks (as of now, $384 for the year) and outside reading material (varies, but generally between $5 -$15 per semester).

AP US History

  • To be eligible for college credit, must make a 3 or better on the AP US History exam. (2024-25: 99 of 105 made 3+)
  • Texas public colleges required to give credit for score of 3+.
  • The farther you get from Texas, the more likely the universities are to accept AP credit over Lone Star credit. Standards depend on the university.

Dual Credit US History

  • To be eligible for semester college credit, must pass HIST 1301 and/or HIST 1302

  • Texas public colleges required to give credit for passing scores.
  • Acceptance outside of Texas depends on the university
