• This year we are partnering with the APIDA Resource Center!
• Night Market will have food sold by the various APIDA orgs, and visitors will be treated to a night of open-mic performances!
• Night Market will take place on October 28th in the Aztec Student Union from 4-8 p.m.

We Like Comparing

• Humans like to quantify things
• We like to see where we are in relation to others
• Can be destructive or productive
• Feels good to get the highest grade on an exam
• Feels terrible to see that your HW score is 10 points behind everyone else
• Comparing our achievements is natural
• Without others we struggle to know our place
• You only know you’re faster if there’s someone else

It’s All About You

• In college you only need to worry about you
• Instead of looking at classmates, see if you are doing your best
• I don’t gain anything from being sad that >insert name< got an A
• Except maybe some jealousy
• Leave the mindset that there are other people in your own race
• Our system of validation should not rely on being above others

Find Your Validation

• Look at how far you’ve come!
• You know your strengths and weaknesses
• Don’t hold compare yourself to someone else’s highlight reel
• What you see from others is hardly the whole picture
