Statewide Literacy Project

  • The state is working with AEA consultants to support districts with helping 1st and 2nd graders achieve at high levels. Priority is given to 2nd grade classrooms who are less than 60% proficient.
  • All of EBF’s 2nd grade classrooms scored above 60% proficiency, so we will not be a priority school.
  • However, we will be utilizing some of the purposeful practice strategies with the first grade classroom in Fremont, as well as sharing the strategies with all interested teachers in 1st and 2nd grade.

Standards Based Grading on Infinite Campus

  • Elementary teachers have always hand written report cards (which is extremely time consuming). Mrs. Helm and I have met with Infinite Campus to set up standards based grading electronically, so that elementary report cards could simply be printed after teachers input data categorized by standards.
  • We have finalized setting up all of the 6th grade standards.
  • The 6th grade teachers will pilot the process for 3rd trimester, and if all goes well, we will look at adding additional grades next year.

Future Ready Iowa

  • Future Ready Iowa is an initiative to prepare and connect Iowa students to good paying jobs in Iowa.
  • Laura Williams and Amanda Brink are two representatives who work with our district to share opportunities in this area.
  • Mrs. Williams will be meeting with the JHHS CTE teachers in April to discuss project based learning opportunities to enrich student learning.
