How to download the AOI from the TM

  • Ensure that the expert mode in the Tasking Manager is activated
  • Activate expert by clicking on your username and going to “Settings”, scroll down and activate expert mode

  • Enter the project number in “Explore Projects”, in the project page scroll down and under the Contributions Timeline select “Download AOI”

  • Drag the AOI Geojson into JOSM

  • Use the continuous download plugin to download continuously and downloading along

OR

  • Download small bits of the area of interest following the boundary

OR

  • Download the task grid and after selecting it use the ‘Download along’ tool from the file menu, make sure to add a distance in meters that will download all data within each task

Getting started

  • Ensure that you have added all the filters that are needed, for instance buildings=*,highway=*,waterway=*, landuse=* and natural=*, you can also put specific filters as you want

  • Since there is a lot of data filtering the different features while cleaning will ensure that JOSM does not crash or slow down too much

  • You need to make sure that the map paintstyles are also active. Check the ‘Inline Validation’ and ‘Missing Maps / Youth Mappers Validators Checks’ paint styles

  • Conduct very similar checks to those you would during validation, but ensure to look across the whole AOI

  • Have a go at doing 3rd pass on one project, please do not feel the need to complete the project, but try doing 3rd pass for one or two hours per week
