Skylarks is an independent Richmond based charity offering a range of activities and support for children and young people with additional needs, their siblings and parents/carers

Holy Trinity PTA is the Parent Teacher Association for the Holy Trinity CE School, working to enhance education and foster relationships, raising money and organizing events.

Fundraising: �Our target

  • Shared fundraising event between Holy Trinity and Skylarks Charity

  • Participant costs cover the ride, and all funds raised are split equally between the two charities

  • Expectation of £1,000 raised per participant
    • the HTPTA and Skylarks will support you with comms and promotion in the lead up to the ride

Ride Overview:

Total ride of approximately 300km over two days from Holy Trinity to the heart of Paris

Day 1: 110km

Day 2: 190km

Ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe the 26th. Hotel stay in Dieppe Friday night.

Crossing time about4 hours

Hotel, twin rooms with breakfast included on Saturday

Arrival in Paris between 5pm & 6pm on Saturday

One to two support vans / vehicles to transport luggage and supplies to finish, and to repatriate bikes to UK after the ride finishes

What you need to get started

  • A road bike: drop handlebars, road tyres and wheels. No mountain bikes or hybrids
  • Proper cycling clothing
    • For training, foul weather kit: rain cape, warmer layers, helmet, etc.
    • For the event 2 pairs of bib shorts, cycling shoes, saddle bag or top top bag
  • A bike computer (Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead, etc.) or a mount for a phone to navigate
  • Cycling liability insurance with international cover

Training for the ride

  • The ride training plan will be available early in 2026 with specific dates for groups put into the diary
  • You can start training at anytime, but the group focus will begin in Mid-March
  • Participants will need to track training through Strava to ensure we are all on target

Tentative dates

  • Sunday, March 29 – first group training ride
  • Week of April 13-17 – nutrition and maintenance seminars
  • June 13 & 14 – last long training ride. 130 km ride – possibly both Sat & Sun depending on numbers

Paris & home

  • We are looking for a hotel that can accommodate group booking. More information will be available about this in early 2026.
  • Travel back to London
    • Suggest making train or flight bookings home as soon as you commit to the ride.
    • If you want to take the Eurostar, prices get very high late spring and summer so book in advance.

Costs: What is included

What you get:

  • 12-week ride training plan: includes a series of scheduled group training rides ahead of the event
  • Weekly training plan updates to ensure you are on track

  • Preplanned route, with stops included along the route
  • Van support along the route
  • Lunch, snacks, water refills and assorted soft drinks on day 1 & day 2

What it costs:

  • £400 per participant �
  • £200 ride deposit at sign up
  • £200 final ride payment 4 weeks before departure

  • Dinner on ferry to France
