What is The César E. Chávez Leadership Institute?

The César E. Chávez Leadership Institute is a residential summer program followed by an academic calendar of events for Arizona high school students entering their junior and senior year. CCLI seeks to improve access to higher education by providing a variety of enriching experiences emphasizing servant leadership development and civic engagement while advocating for the completion of high school, attending college and educational opportunities at Arizona State University. CCLI emphasizes uplifting and empowering Hispanic/Latinx voices.

Dates: Sunday, June 16 - Thursday, June 20, 2024

Location: ASU Tempe Campus

Cost to Apply: No cost

Cost to Attend: $50 non-refundable registration fee

What to expect

Learn from a variety of guest speakers, activities, and programming about a diverse array of topics, including but not limited to: individuality and personal identity, servant leadership, college readiness, and financial literacy.

Participate in a service project and create plans for your very own!

Connect with other students through La Familia groups and with the larger ASU community.

Where will I be staying?

  • You will be staying in the Barrett Residential Complex
  • Floors are split by gender
  • You will have 1 roommate and 2 suitemates (4 total per suite)

What should I bring with me?

  • If accepted into the program, you will attend a virtual orientation where we cover supplies to bring, the agenda for camp, and other helpful information.

What if I prefer Spanish?

  • Contact Catalina Laguna-Ramirez for more information on applying
  • During camp, Spanish-speaking Pro Staff and Camp Ambassadors will be available
  • Translated documents will be provided during camp
