Do you like making crochet critters?

Are you interested in bettering your community?

Then this is for you!

Our Better World Day project focuses on decreasing sensory overload in our school setting. A way in which we want to help with upset senses is by having a couple of crocheted or knitted stress toys in the breakout

rooms. If you have the time and availability to create these

stress and sensory overload toys please contact us to help.

The style is pretty much anything, preferably hand sized and

round to provide better comfort.

Election Packet on Schoology Group and Student Page!

(Read next slides independently if you are interested)

What is the Exec Board?

The Exec Board is a group of 7 student leaders who oversee ASB finances and are active members in the ASB class, which plans and executes ASB activities.

What positions are available for my grade level?

Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors may run for any position. To run for ASB President, you must have prior ASB experience (event planning committee, Middle School or High School ASB elected position, club leadership position, or past election committee experience.)

What does the Exec Board do?

The Exec Board meets once a week before school to discuss fundraising requests (requests by clubs to fundraise), purchase requests (requests by clubs/athletics to purchase things for their group), approve/deny such requests. We discuss other issues such as clubs, school culture, student survey feedback, etc. We also have meetings with members of the school admin to discuss ideas and issues surrounding Innovation Lab, and give updates to the NSD school board when necessary. The Exec. Board handles the all-school ASB budget, works towards implementing more efficient communication systems, addresses climate and culture needs/concerns, and works before/after school to support the ASB program overall. The ASB Exec. works very closely with the ASB Advisor and the Innovation Lab admin. team.

32 of 37

More FAQ (Read independently if you are interested)

What is the difference between Exec Board and Class Council?

Exec Board deals with all-school student body monies and more of the behind-the-scenes aspect, while Class Councils are in charge of planning the class fundraisers and other class events/activities as decided by the council.

Am I running for a position?

Yes! ASB positions are selected based on student vote, your interview, teacher recommendations, meeting sit-in, . Because Class Council works together to plan and implement class fundraisers and other class events, they work as a board and do not have specific titles.

What is the term of office?

The executive Board serves 5 quarters with one-quarter of overlap for training the new board. Class Council serves 4 quarters (one school year).

What summer commitments do ASB Exec. and/or Student Council have?

All members will have work hours to complete over the summer. That will come out later this spring.

33 of 37

More FAQ (Read independently if you are interested)

Will I get reminders so I don’t miss deadlines?

No, the election committee will not be responsible for sending out reminders on deadlines! We will inform you if there are any changes, but all the deadlines and details are on the election packet as of 2/24/24!

What if I miss deadlines?

If you miss the deadline for the application, you will not be able to run in the election. If you miss the deadline for teacher recommendations, do not attend an interview, do not attend an ASB meeting, you will receive a 0 for each category (see pie chart on next slide). If you miss the deadline for the speech, you will not be able to give your speech at the ASM. Please set reminders for yourself so you don’t miss any deadlines!

34 of 37

More FAQ (Read independently if you are interested)

How will the voting work?

Students will vote on voting day (March 27th) via a google form after each candidate presents their speech (can be either a spoken speech with one slide or a video).

Student votes will not be the only part of the voting process though. Here is our pie chart:

35 of 37

More FAQ (Read independently if you are interested)

How will the voting work?

Meeting sit-in and speech submission will be “complete” or “incomplete”, meaning if you do it, you will receive the full 5%, and if not, you will receive 0% for that category.
