Backstory

“Ground Bound.” Once a perfect utopian society. Grounded to planet Earth, everyone was happy. Then, one day, out of the blue, the community flooded. No one knew where the water was coming from since there wasn’t any large bodies of water nearby. The people realized they needed to evacuate. They went to the local inventor and asked what they should do. He said he would quickly make a huge clear balloon to surround the community and get it off the ground. He worked day and night and in a day’s time, he was done. He gathered volunteers and together they tied the balloon around the community. In what seemed like no time, the community was off the ground and on its way up. It eventually landed in the clouds and became known as “Cloud 9.”

The Great Council makes the laws because they are always near the president and they decide with him/her. The laws are enforced by getting together in the “Cloud House” to talk about what went wrong and what went right to decide on a new law they need to make to fix these problems. It is a reactive approach because we let them make choices and if they make a wrong choice we come up with a solution right away. “Cloud 9” is a democracy since it has a president and the people elect who they would like and vote based on their opinions. When someone in the community breaks a law they take away some of their privileges, but this depends on what they do.

  • The families are equitable so both parents have to agree on decisions and any disagreements are brought up to the Great Council.
