Standard and Non Standard Hours

  • Standard hours 🡪 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Non-standard hours
    • Before 8am Monday to Friday
    • After 6pm Monday to Friday
    • Public Holidays
    • Saturdays and Sundays
  • If you are working at a time you normally don’t, SMS prior to the start of that time to ensure support is available
  • Office hours 9am-5pm Monday to Friday (Victoria), 8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday (South Australia)

��Mandatory Training��

  • First Aid (Regs) 3 yearly
  • CPR (Regs) Annual
  • Anaphylaxis (Regs) 3 yearly with annual update
  • Asthma (Regs) 3 yearly (some have annual update)

Within 3 months of start/prior to start:

  • Child Protection (Policy) then yearly/on certificate – also every adult in the FDC home
  • Behaviour Guidance (Policy) then 18 months (Phoenix Cups)

6 per year, minimum 2 presented by service

Other recommended training:

  • Food Handling
  • As identified by you, your Field Coordinator and/or Coordinator

Incident, Injury, Trauma & Illness

  • Try to prevent (Home Safety Check standard, active supervision, completion of risk assessments, sufficient equipment)
  • Serious incidents to be reported to office within 1 hour
  • Other incidents within 12 hours
  • Document every incident, no matter how minor

Medication

  • All medication given, including nappy & teething creams, MUST be on the form
  • Must meet policy about whether or not it can be administered
  • Parent fills in the first section
  • Educator fills in the second section, with parent to acknowledge
  • If medication is not issued, a note needs to be on the Educator’s section
  • If a routine medication – one entry for 3 months/the form is filled

USB and Portal

  • Portal has forms, policies
  • USB has resources
  • Remains the property of FFDC
  • USB be returned in February each year for replacement
  • Charge incurred if lost/damaged ($20)
  • Used as ID when dealing with businesses who have a relationship with FFDC

Program Planning and Documentation of Learning

Section of The Act

168 (1) Offence relating to required programs

The approved provider of an education and care service must ensure that a program is delivered to all children being educated and cared for by the service that—

(a) is based on an approved learning framework; and

(b) is delivered in a manner that accords with the approved learning framework; and

(c) is based on the developmental needs, interests and experiences of each child; and

(d) is designed to take into account the individual differences of each child.

  • Bikes and ride on toys inaccessible unless directly supervised
