Decisions for 2024/25 - Seniors (Current Juniors)

  • The general course of study for an average senior depends on your graduation status and college goals. Some things to consider:
    • PE - Need 3 to graduate, may need 4 if you are an athlete at WHS
    • Science - Need 2 to graduate, may want 3 or 4 for college applications
    • Language - Need 4 to graduate
    • Math Class - Need 3 to graduate, may want 4 for college applications
    • Government/Economics or AP Microeconomics or AP Government
    • World Language - Need 1 for graduation, 2 for college A-G, and 3 or 4 for college applications
    • Elective
    • Elective
  • The amount of electives you chose will vary by student based on goals for college, completing a CTE pathway, or even having to makeup courses.
  • Some seniors choose to have off periods or take Sierra College Classes.
  • Use course preview days to help you decide on the following:
    • Should I take an AP or Advanced level course or a general level course?
    • Have I met my World Language graduation requirement? Am I needed to advance in my world language based on the college I want to attend?
    • Have I met my graduation requirements? Am I close to a CTE Pathway to finish?
    • Should I attempt rigorous College Prep academic electives for my college goals?

Decisions for 2025/26 - Seniors (Current Juniors)

  • CSU ERWC or Creative Writing or AP Literature/Composition or AP Seminar/Research
    • If interested in AP, you should check it out during course preview day.
  • Government/Economics or AP Microeconomics or AP Government
    • If interested in AP, you should check it out during course preview day.
    • If interested in Sierra College Dual Enrollment, you should check in out during course preview day.
    • Generally, to take AP you should have taken AP World History or AP US History, but not required.
  • Math Pathway
    • 3 Years of Math Required for Graduation, 4 Years Recommended for College
    • Integrated I — PASSED as Freshman Integrated II — PASSED as Sophomore or Junior
    • Options for 3rd Level Math for Seniors
      • Integrated III or Personal Business Finance (PBF not A-G)
      • Pre-Calculus / Trigonometry Honors or QRAT (if passed Int III)
      • AP Calculus BC or AP Statistics
  • Science Pathway
    • You need 1 Life Science (likely BIO) and 1 Physical Science (likely GEO, Physics, or Chem) and 1 elective Science for Graduation
    • For A-G college eligibility you will need more
    • 2nd or 3rd Level Sciences to check out: Chemistry/Chemistry Honors, AP Chemistry, Geology, Anatomy/Physiology, Physics, AP Physics C-M, AP Physics 2, Marine Biology, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, and Forensics DE
  • PE
    • After Passing PE 1, you need two more years of elective PE classes. Select from these:
      • Team Sports, Lifetime Sports, Athletic Weights (Sport Specific), Self Defense, Athletic Fitness, Aerobic Walking, Aquatics, Dance

  • World Language -
    • Have you started your pathway? You Need 1 Year for Graduation and 2 Years (min) / 3 Years (recommended) for UC/CSU Eligibility (A-G)
    • For course preview day you should try and check out your 1st Choice for Year 1 Language, or the next level of the language you have started.
    • Span I, Span II, or Span III, or Span III H, Span IV, AP Spanish (Depending on what you have passed)
    • French A, French I, or French II, French III Honors, French IV (Depending on what you have passed)
    • ASL I, ASL II, or ASL III (Depending on what you have passed)
