Playing Conditions Calculation (PCC)

The statistical calculation that determines if conditions on a day of play differed from normal playing conditions to the extent that it significantly impacted player’s performance such as course conditions, weather conditions and course setup.

• Considers acceptable scores submitted on a golf course each day and requires at least eight (8) acceptable scores to determine if an adjustment is required. 

​

• Adjustments range between -1.0 (when the golf course is playing easier) and +3.0 (when conditions are more challenging) and will be applied within the Score Differential Calculation.

In the prior slide, this golfer along with seven other golfers played in conditions at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course on 10/31 that were harder than normal playing conditions.  All eight golfers posted for that day and forced a +3 adjustment to their score differential.

If the PCC was not applied, the player’s score differential for that round would have been 21.2 for the round and would have penalized the player playing in harder than normal playing conditions.

​

Likewise, if the PCC was playing easier than normal, the player’s score differential would have been adjusted upward by -1 to 22.2.
