  1. You must let your Coach know you intend to play in Athletics in 7th grade.
  2. Coaches will send Counselors a list of students who expressed interest to play Athletics.
  3. Counselors will update Athletics in student’s schedule once the Coach’s list is received.

Web Communications & Touch System Data Entry

  • Increase computer skills needed for school and careers
  • One full semester of typing skills; learn proper technique, increase speed and accuracy, lots of practice, etc…
  • Earn ½ high school credit per course

  • Both courses must be taken TOGETHER = 1 H.S. credit

McMeans JH Bobcat Band

Band provides you with an opportunity to learn a Woodwind, Brass, or Percussion instrument! We will help you choose an instrument and help you every step of the way! Expect 20 – 30 minutes of daily practice, as well as 2 – 3 concert performances per year…

BUT - we put the “fun” in Fine Arts! We host “Breathing Gym” Olympics, pizza and ice cream socials, trips to Main Event, and end of the year trips to Schlitterbahn and Fiesta Texas!

Become and Awesome Artist �at McMeans!

  • You don’t have to be “good at art!” You just have to try.
  • We do it all: painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and so much more!
  • Beautiful classrooms: our studios have a large wall of windows and a courtyard where artists can work outside
  • Chance to submit your work to contests: Rodeo, V.A.S.E., PTA Reflections, Dog Show, End of Year Art Show, etc.

Career Education �with Mrs. McClelland

Career Investigation

  • Explore all 16 career clusters (STEM, Business, Social Sciences, etc.)
  • Use technology to learn how to make resumes, business cards, Powerpoint presentations, etc…
  • Hands on experiences in the sewing and cooking labs
  • Introduction to proper keyboarding skills with built in practice time

Publications 1

Students apply writing skills, computer graphics and photography to the Publication of the School Yearbook. Teamwork is also crucial in this course.

LEADWORTHY

(Teen Leadership)

  • This course helps students develop leadership, social, personal, and business skills. This is the class for you if you want to work on being the best version of YOU!!!!

Other Courses

Students who do not pass the Math or Reading section of the STARR test and/or Fail Math or Reading for the year will be recommended to take these classes in place of the elective choice.

          • Math Lab is designed to help refine and review math skills in preparation for the STAAR test.
          • Reading Elective is designed to help improve reading level and basic reading skills in preparation for the STAAR test.

Course Selection

Course Selection will all be done on School Links this year!

The Course Catalog can be found on School Links, too.

Starting on January 20th through January 31st you will be able to choose your classes for next year in School Links.

You now have directions (purple handouts) that you will use to complete on your own and with your family.

February 6th – March 10th - Counselors will meet with you all individually and we will be able to answer questions and make sure you have selected the correct courses.
