Robotics Log - Guidelines

• Link to Robotics Log
• Teacher coaches participating in robotics competitions under FIRST FTC Robotics and VEX IQ Robotics will be offer a differential Rate 4 ($2,102).
• Differential will be paid in Spring 2024
• FIRST (FTC) and VEX IQ Robotics teams will be able to have two coaches per team up to two teams. The number of teams a school has is based on the number of teams a school had during the 2022-2023 school year.
• If a school has multiple teams and is coached by the same staff, the coach is entitled to only one differential.
• If a school is participating in FTC and VEX IQ, only two coaches per team up to two teams can receive a differential regardless of the league

Robotics Log - Expectations and Activities

To receive the differential, teacher coaches will:

• Actively recruit team members. Teams should consist of no more than fifteen (15) students but no less than six students.
• Meet at least twice a week for an average of 90 minutes
• Attend and participate in one qualifying tournament and/or District Championship
• Volunteer in one tournament
• Schedule, coordinate, and supervise team meetings
• Work with students to determine team roles and best practices
• Know all rules, regulations, and timelines for FIRST Robotics and VEX Robotics
• Maintain a safe environment for meeting and practice
• Work with school administration to identify a secure location for all robotics equipment and materials
• Submit all paperwork related to off-site tournament travel following applicable LAUSD Field Trip policies and guidelines for administrator approval.
• Obtain signed Media Release Forms for all participating students
• Attend all training and professional development
• Maintain logs of activities

Qualification and Championship

• Region South Tournament is on January 20, 2024 at Rancho Dominguez Prep. High School.

• District Championship is on March 2, 2024 at Roosevelt High School. Buses will be provided for the District Championship by Division of Instruction.
