How SI Sessions Work

  • Sessions will be scheduled at the times you choose.

  • They are instructor selected and trained to help you learn what-to-learn and how-to-learn it.
  • They attend the courses just like you, take notes, read the material, and conduct SI sessions.

  • The SI model is used on more than 600 college campuses worldwide.
  • National data shows that students who attend SI sessions average from one-half to one full letter grade above the average of the non-SI group.

Getting Started

  • Please fill out the SI Survey. Indicate only the times you are not available.

  • The SI leader will schedule sessions at the times when most students can attend.

  • The SI session schedule will be posted on the website and announced in class.

Some Points to Remember

  • SI sessions are not a time for homework; they are homework preparation time.

  • SI leaders are not here to tutor. Their job is to actively involve you in the course material through group activities and discussion.
