Onboarding Narrative

  • Candidates are selected for their ability to work as part of much larger team, where documenting one’s work is critical for large-scale collaboration.
  • Modular microtasking breakdown of work structure is the key approach of OSE to involve many people on mission-aligned work.
  • Team member must understand development roadmap for a given project - so that milestones (and their dates) and backlogs are clear for the 90 day working period
    • Retention will likely be determined by visible product velocity
  • Team members must post all work on their Work Log
  • Sample Collaboration Task gets person oriented on a given project, in the direction of doing actual work on it - based on project Roadmap
    • Detailed Roadmaps are critical - as that enables a large team to work together
    • Process Manager assures that all team members produce documentation and use uniform development protocols
  • Entire Engineering Team pulls together on a given project, with each person preferably functioning as a Generalist working on many different development items, though a certain person can focus on a specific development item in order not to overburden themselves
    • Once development process is stable and well-defined, new teams can form
    • Collaboration Architecture of a Full Team involves roughly 24 people
    • Process Managers are key to keeping project aligned and working together
    • Developers can be promoted to Lieutenants (like Linux Lieutenants) once they display competency in their project
