Game Mechanics

The gameplay involves navigating detailed environments in this fantasy world. Allowing some exploration and discovery in a linear journey. The player can collect items and fight enemies.

Key mechanics include attacking enemies and interacting with the environment. Also allowing players to block incoming attacks from enemies. Multiple enemies will come after the player, thus offering a slightly challenging experience that players will have to fight through.

Technical Description

Revenge and Retribution was developed in Unity, using the Universal 3D platform. Rendering graphics in a stylized environment, with lighting and shadows as well. The game runs at a variable 60 frames per second, sometimes running faster than this (up to 100 frames per second).

Developed by single developer it has multiple scene environments that are triggered to switch by certain actions. There are scripts to control various aspects of player movement and combat.

The game also utilizes AI agents for enemy NPC navigation. Allowing them to follow and attack the player.

Controls

The controls involve using a mouse and keyboard. Using the WASD and arrow keys for movements. The mouse looks in the direction the player moves it from a first person perspective. The left mouse button acts as the attack and interaction button. The right mouse button acts as a block action.

Game Limitations

Future Work

Future iterations might incorporate more fleshed out and in-depth narrative. Along with a more detailed and extensive combat system, that would allow for more enemy types and attacks. The new narrative would expand upon what is already in the game, also adding more length.

Game Screenshots

The game limitations were mainly due to the developers lack of familiarity with the engine and lack of time. The gameplay mechanics and narrative elements could be greatly improved and add much more depth to the game. Thus one of the biggest limitations is the game is extremely short.
