Federal Perkins Allocations

A simple formula…

  • 30% Based on 5 – 17 Title I (census) population data
  • 70% based on age 5 – 17 Title I (census) poverty data
  • Funds can be transferred to a Career Center through a consortium agreement

State EIA Career and Technical Equipment Funding Technology Education is listed as Proviso 1A.60. (SDE-EIA: Career and Technology Education).

  • Funds distributed to school districts and multi-district career centers based on the prior year student enrollment for career and technical education courses
  • No district or multi-district career center receiving less than $50,000

Subfund 328 - Allocation Formula:

The funds appropriated for Industry Certifications/Credentials must be allocated to school districts based upon the number of national industry exams administered in the prior school year.

  • Each district will receive $10,000 base in October
  • Additional allocation based on Proviso dispersed in February
  • State funds Carryover for an additional 12 months

CTE Student Definitions

  • CTE Participant: A secondary student who has earned one (1) or more credits in any career and technical education (CTE) program area.
  • CTE Concentrator: A secondary student who has earned three (3) or more credits in a single CTE program area (e.g., health care or business services), or two (2) credits in a single CTE program area, but only in those program areas where 2 credit sequences at the secondary level are recognized by the State and/or its local eligible recipients.
  • CTE Completer: A secondary student who has earned all of the required courses in a CTE program area (e.g., health care or business services).
