Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’ve never played an instrument before but I want to sign up for band or orchestra?

    • We are so excited that you want to start playing an instrument! Contact our band or orchestra teacher to help you get started!

What if my parent already filled out the course selection and I want to make a change?

    • To change your music selection your parent can edit the course selection form and resend it. Need help with this? Contact our band, choir, or orchestra teacher. We are happy to help!

Can I choose to take two music classes in 6th grade?

    • No. We are excited that you love music and want to take more classes! Unfortunately, two music classes do not fit in the 6th grade daily schedule.

Do we have to practice?

    • Yes! We encourage daily practice, and will teach you how to apply practice strategies and develop great practice habits.

Do we have to be in a music class in 6th grade?

    • We are so lucky that every 6th grader gets to be in a music ensemble in 6th grade. You’ll choose to be in either band, orchestra, or choir. This class will alternate every other day with your physical education class.

Are there concerts in 6th grade? Do we have to come to the concerts?

    • The 6th grade has required concerts during the school year. Our students love performing for each other and celebrating the music they have been working on with the audience of families, teachers, and friends!

How do we sign up for Jazz Band, Symphony Orchestra, Noteworthy?

    • These classes are available for 8th graders. Stick with your music classes and develop your skills to be ready for these advanced ensembles.
