Comment Themes

Strengths	Many parents commented on the amazing teachers and staff who are always taking the time to work with their child. Many parents commented on behaviors being handled in appropriate ways. Many parents commented on how much they value our classified staff- lunch aides, the office staff and our EAs for making a positive contribution to their child’s experience.

Comment Themes

Areas to Grow	Multiple parents commented that the would like to have more communication, and specifically more timely communication from classroom teachers regarding the challenges their children were facing before the situation became a “real problem” or if their child receives an ODR. They would also like more positive communication.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all of your insight today. So going next, there's three stages. I'll be reflecting, then aligning my efforts and then evaluating the impact of those efforts. So first, I need to spend a bit of time thinking about all the great ideas that you provided, and I want to check in with other leaders to see where they are going to be moving their work efforts once I've done that. I'm going to identify just one, maybe two areas to focus our improvement efforts and I'll be starting an improvement cycle and you'll know what that cycle is cause I'm going to need each of you to help me to carry it out. Last, we need to evaluate whether or not the improvement is actually making a difference for our community, for the different parts of the school system that we serve. So I'll be thinking about how to do that. Right now, I'm anticipating I'll do that through some focused rounding, where I check in with various people across the organization to see if they're noticing a difference or not. And more to come, really do. Thank you for your time. I'm super excited about the recognition of our strengths and I'm excited to see that there's opportunities for improvement for us as well.

I thank you so much for the opportunity to hear your thinking. First, I’m going to spend some time reflecting on what I’ve heard and I’m going to share it with other principals and the SASD leadership team. Everyone is holding these meetings and we will be combining all of this information.

Then, our leadership team is going to determine one or two areas where we can focus and we will implement a 90 day improvement cycle so that we can quickly start seeing improvements in the areas we select. At that time, Superintendent Havertine will communicate with the community about what we have selected and what efforts we are taking.

Within 45 days we will have a mid-term review and at 90 days out we will let the community know the results of our improvement cycle and the next areas for improvement. We will then continue this process every 90 days until we give the survey again.
