INSIDEOUT COACHING INITIATIVE

CHANGING THE CURRENT CULTURE OF EDUCATION-BASED ATHLETICS...

2 of 12

What is the INSIDEOUT Initiative?

The purpose of the InSideOut Initiative is to transform the current “win-at-all-costs” sports culture where the value is defined by the scoreboard, into one that defines and promotes sports as a human growth experience that connects students with caring adults in their learning community.

Education-Based Athletics

However, youth sports has evolved into a $15 billion industry that promotes early specialization, private one-on-one coaching, multi-team layered participation and a significant financial and emotional investment by parents. Less than 3% of high school athletes will go on to play college athletics and only a fraction of those—less than 1%—will ever play professionally.

If the value of youth sports comes solely from winning, then millions of kids lose out on the potential for a life-changing human growth experience.

Transactional coach – focus solely on winning and meeting their personal needs.

Transformational coach – uses their platform. They teach the Xs and Os, but also teach the Ys of life. They help young people grow into responsible adults; they leave a lasting legacy.
