1. Character

1. “Every tree is known by its own fruit…A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good…” (Luke 6:44-45)

2. Alam ang tama at mali. Patas at makatarungan. (Fair and just).

3. Hindi sangkot sa illegal activities. Walang bisyo.

4. Track record ng kandidato.

2. Competency

1. “One who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:17)

2. May sapat na ping-aralan, skills, training, knowledge, experience and track record

3. May political will na ipatupad ang mga kinakailangang batas at programa.

4. May record ng kagalingan at pagpapamalas ng servant-leadership; ang pangkalahatang kabutihan o common good ang pinaglilingkuran, at hindi ang sariling interes at kapakinabangan.

5. May record ng tamang pamamahala sa pera ng bayan; may system of accountability and transparency;

6. Understands and capable of ensuring that government funds and resources are managed according to established law and that transparency and accountability are strictly observed.

3. Commitment

1. “Entrust your works to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)

2. May malinaw at makatotohanang anti-poverty program at matatag na economic agenda, na hindi naisasantabi o nakokompromiso ang Christian values and principles.

3. May malinaw na posisyon tungkol sa pangangalaga sa kalikasan at sa pagtatanggol sa ating territorial rights –partikular sa West Philippine Sea.

4. May malinaw, makatotohanan at comprehensive response program kaugnay sa pandemya (Covid-19), and effective and efficient Health Management Systems.

5. May malinaw na programa/plataforma para harapin at lutasin ang problema sa illegal drugs, EJK, graft and corruption, peace and order, criminality, political dynasty, and among others.

4. Compliance

1. “If you love me, obey my commandments.” (John 14:15)

2. Huwaran sa pagbabayad ng buwis at sa paglalabas ng SALN nang regular at handang isapubliko ito.

3. Hindi sangkot o dawit sa graft and corruption, sa pagnanakaw sa kaban ng bayan, walang illegal, unexplained, ill-gotten wealth; walang record at conviction of criminal cases. Full adherence to the Philippine Constitution.

4. Paggalang sa democratic process, due process, at pangangatawan sa commitment ng Pilipinas kaugnay sa Universal Declaration on Human Rights.

Mag organize ng mga circles of discernment (family/clan, neighbors, work places, organizations, parishes, etc)
BE PARTISAN!

Campaign. Convince people. One person at a time. Simulan sa sariling pamilya, tahanan, bakuran. Approach friends, etc.
Join/volunteer in the campaign group of chosen candidates
If you wish, issue a group statement on results of your discernment

Mag like sa mga FB posts about the candidate
Labanan ang fake news. Call out friends posting fake news. Or post correction on your wall.
Mention why you are not voting sa mga di karapat dapat na kandidato

Kung kaya, mag ambag financially and materially to the campaign

Church will not endorse a particular candidate. Especially in public. But You can speak about not voting for candidates that contradict the moral guidelines for choosing a candidate. (Clergy will never mention a particular candidate. As a lay person, I think you can.)��For example, I will say publicly:

* not to vote for anyone who endangers our democracy

* do not vote for anyone who endangers our democratic institutions. Napakatagal para mabuo ang ating mga institution sa ating pamahalaan. Pero it takes only overnight to destroy what we have built.

* not to vote for candidates who are obviously inclined not towards democracy but authoritarianism and dictatorship. May track record ng pagiging diktador at authoritarian.

* not to vote for people who will not respect the rule of law.

* not to vote for people who will weaponize the law against their personal enemies

* not to vote for candidates who are not transparent

* not to vote for those who compromise the sovereignty of our country to foreign powers

* not to vote to those who are beholden to the interests of big business and the landowning class as against the poorest of the poor.

* not to vote for those who have no respect for women.

* not to vote for those who have no fear of God. Who have no respect for the faith.

* not to vote for those who have no malasakit or concern for the environment.

* not to vote for those who do not know their history. And even revise history.

* not to vote for those who have no real track record in public service. Kasi ang pamamahala, public servant yan. Kung wala naman siyang track record diyan, bakit naman natin siya ilalagay sa puwestong yan. Sino ang mali, hindi sila, kundi tayong pumipili.

* not to vote for those who have record of being violent, of having criminal inclinations, of being corrupt.

* not to vote for those who represent political dynasty.
