Unconditional and Conditional Consciousness

  • We begin this journey into the spiritual nature & foundations of astrology by a brief examination of two possible states of consciousness, conditional consciousness and unconditional consciousness. Even though most of us are embedded within a physically conditioned reality and state of awareness, unconditional states of consciousness are also available to anyone at anytime, simply because it is our natural state of consciousness.

5 of 117

Nature of Individual Consciousness

  • Unconditioned consciousness is in a state of total freedom and feelings of ‘oneness’.
  • Conditioned Consciousness is crystallized into what we perceive as a polarized material world of self & other.
  • Inherent in a polarized world of individualized consciousness and relationship is a tension between separation and togetherness, individuality & communality.
  • This tension is the dynamic behind the various aspects of relationship both within oneself or toward or away from another.

6 of 117

Relational Tension

  • Intrapersonal (within oneself) Tension: There is a constant play between harmonious and inharmonious aspects of our personality producing an inner tension which results in transformation, growth & self-actualization.
  • Interpersonal Tension: Just as there is tension within a being, there is also tension between two beings. So, the drama that is being played out within each person also finds expression in the outer world in relationship between people & other forms of life.
  • We are attracted to those who connect & respond to the differing kinds of tension within us. Growth occurs both within us and for both of us as a result of this inner and outer (relational) tension.

Equilibrium Between Self & Society

  • The search for equilibrium within the self & between the self, others, & society is one of the driving forces behind self-actualization.
  • The nature of this search for equilibrium between various aspects of character within an individual & between an individual & others is at the core of Astrological Natal Chart analysis.
  • The Natal Chart shows how one’s unique abilities and challenges can actualize both self & society.

8 of 117

Nature of Individual Consciousness

  • From a holistic perspective, look on the cosmos as an ocean of energy and relationship between energy ‘beings’ of all size and complexity.
  • All beings uniquely different seeking some equilibrium between the need for togetherness and the need for separation.
  • Each astrological Natal Chart of an individual represents this creative engine of differing characteristics reacting to the world in differing, spontaneous, serendipitous, expected and unexpected ways, helping to mold a constantly new & varied world.

9 of 117

Self, Connection & Creative Evolution

  • Through Earthly experience from birth onward, each of us come to view ourselves as individual entities with no prior link to the world around us except that which is created through our own personal experience.
  • Much of the impetus in our lives concerns trying to connect in rewarding ways with the complex universe around us.
  • This urge to connect is part of the push behind creative evolution.

10 of 117

Self, Connection & Creative Evolution

  • Within each act toward connection & relation, there are the number of beings in the relationship plus one. That ‘one’ is the character of the relationship itself, a melding of the characteristics of those in the relationship. This ‘relationship’ as an individual entity becomes an integral part of the cosmic reality.
  • Thus, this ‘relational melding’ is an ever-fluxing act & object of creation given birth by those within the relationship, a creation embodying their inner attitudes and feelings toward each other.
  • We are creative beings & relationship is the womb of our creativity which helps expand the nature of the cosmos we dwell within.

11 of 117

Equilibrium Between Self & Society

  • Relationship is the engine of evolution, a constant process of balancing between the individual and ‘society’, as Lyall Watson states in ‘Beyond Supernature’, p.40.
  • ‘Loneliness brings people together into societies, where their faults drive them apart again, until they eventually find an optimal individual distance that is ritualized in elaborate codes of customs and manners. And so it seems to be with the basic building blocks of all living organisms. Cells seek the proximity of other cells up to a point, finding arrangements which allow diversity of function while protecting their separate identities. ’

12 of 117

Equilibrium Between Self & Society

  • This loneliness did not begin with humanity or even with the higher forms of life on this planet. Even on the molecular level there is the need to relate, to ‘join’ with another.
  • Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Jesuit philosopher & paleontologist eloquently describes the origins of love in The Human Phenomenon, (p.188) a treatise on the rise of consciousness.
  • ‘In all its nuances, love is nothing more or less than the direct or indirect trace marked in the heart of the element by the psychic convergence of the universe on itself.’

13 of 117

Equilibrium Between Self & Society

  • The search for love, in the form of a search for equilibrium & connection between the self & society, is one of the driving forces behind self actualization.
  • The nature of this equilibrium is at the core of Astrological Natal Chart analysis.
  • The Natal Chart shows how one’s unique abilities and challenges can actualize both self & society toward greater awareness.

14 of 117

Nature of Individual Consciousness

  • Self-actualization is an interplay between the individual and the sociocultural environment which changes both. Through self-actualization the individual slowly rises above their social & cultural programming and becomes more individualistic .The more individualistic an individual the more diverse and varied his/her creative output resulting in a more creative engine of evolution for both the individual and society.

15 of 117

Natal Chart as Cosmic Nexus

  • The individual may be considered as one creative ‘nexus’ in a cosmic web-like matrix of karmic interaction
  • The Natal Chart is a Karmic imprint of personal predispositions & circumstances leading to specific types of experiences & subsequent belief systems in the present lifetime.
  • The value of the Natal Chart is that it allows an individual to see more deeply into their inherent nature providing paths of growth less reliant upon the dictates of society and its belief systems.
  • Part of this liberating process is the Natal Chart revealing how & why the individual ‘fits’ within the relational energy of the present moment, with the present world.

What Insights Does the Astrological Natal Chart Offer?

In summary, the Natal Chart offers insights into:

  • Holistic view of personality: The seeds of character
    • Challenges and abilities inherent in one’s character.
  • Planetary cycles: Reveal transformations of meaning, purpose & potential in life. Illuminates the process of Self-actualization.
  • How the ever-fluxing stage of life is set: Potential & pitfalls.
  • A treasure map of the cosmic jewels residing within you as a cosmic entity.

Existential Insights

The only thing permanent and persistent in our experience is consciousness.

Beyond Consciousness, Who are We?

20 of 117

Who are we?

Who Are We?

‘We are not human beings having spiritual experiences.’

  • ‘We are spiritual beings having a human experience.’

  • Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Jesuit philosopher & paleontologist

21 of 117

Who are we?

  • Consciousness permeates and is one with matter from the very beginning
  • Evolves with it toward more complexity and higher states of awareness.
  • Humankind evolving, mentally & socially, toward final spiritual unity. Omega Point
  • Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, The Phenomenon of Man (New York: Harper and Row, 1959), 250–75.
  • See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Teilhard_de_Chardin#cite_note-20
  • How does this complexification take place? (Morphogenetic, Teleological Processes). (We’ll examine these concepts later in the presentation.)

The Spiritual Universe

  • Sir James Jeans (Pioneering Physicist) author of The Mysterious Universe adds:

  • ‘The stream of knowledge is heading toward a non-mechanical reality
  • The universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine…’ (East/West theory of Ideation)
  • (Mind) ‘is the creator and governor of the realm of matter. Get over it… accept the inarguable conclusion.
  • The universe is immaterial-mental and spiritual.’

NATURE|Vol436|7July2005, p. 29

23 of 117

Consciousness as Source of Everything

  • And from Max Planck: (one of the founders of Quantum Theory) in The Observer (25 January 1931)

  • ‘I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness.’

  • ‘We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.’

24 of 117

The Source of things

  • From Consciousness comes the Conscious Cosmos
  • From consciousness comes conscious energy. Conscious energy coalesces & differentiates.
  • From differentiation comes relationship and from relationship creative evolution.
  • As complexity evolves, sentient beings emerge.
  • The more sentient, the more possibly creative.

25 of 117

The Source of Things

  • From a cosmological perspective, the material world is not a place, but a dynamic, creative, ongoing transformation of consciousness.
  • All living energy has a creative role to play in this transformation of consciousness
  • As Thaddeus Golas states in the Lazy Man's Guide To Enlightenment (p. 13):
  • ‘We are all equal beings, and the universe is our relations with each other. The universe is made of one kind of entity; each one is alive, each determines the course of his own existence.’

26 of 117

Two Worlds-Two Realities

  • We exist in two worlds, the spiritual and the material. Yet there is no separation between these two worlds. One exists within the other. The material world is a conditioned expression of the higher dimensional unconditioned spiritual world.

27 of 117

Focus & Beliefs

  • The focus of our awareness through our mental lens conditions our experience toward a physical reality.
  • The intensity of conditioned experience hypnotizes us Into seeing only the material world.
  • We project, see and experience what we expect to see. As a result, our reality is limited by our beliefs & expectations.

28 of 117

Guidance From Above

  • Yet, awareness is in constant search for meaning to explain its experience.
  • Conditioned awareness connects to unconditioned cosmic fields of information which it resonates with.
  • This produces sudden epiphanies, penetrating insights, intuitive realizations which ‘leak’ through the veil of conditional awareness, expanding that awareness.

Cosmic Fields of Information

30 of 117

Cosmic Fields of Information

  • All forms and categories of life are connected to and guided by informational Fields of holistic consciousness residing within a conscious, living universe.

  • Over the ages these informational Fields of holistic consciousness have been described by humanity as Akashic Records, Morphic Fields and the Noosphere

31 of 117

  • The following slides focus on Rupert Sheldrake’s theories of Morphic Fields and Morphogenesis, forces underlying the interconnectedness of life & evolution.
  • This interconnectedness is at the core of Astrological theory and practice.

Cosmic Fields of Information

32 of 117

Morphic Fields: Patterns for self-organizing systems

    • In ‘A new science of life’, Rupert Sheldrake writes: ‘Morphic Resonance is non-energetic and morphogenetic fields themselves are neither a type of mass nor energy.
    • Therefore, there seems to be no a priori reason why it (they) should obey the laws that have been found to apply to the movement of bodies particles and waves. p96

33 of 117

Morphic Fields & Formative Causation

    • A Morphic field is a species-wide collective memory of what has happened before.
    • This Memory is organized by mutual resonance of vibrational frequency, a resonance which indicates similar nature between the vibrational dynamics of two or more entities.
    • These ‘entities’ embody any expression of consciousness whether on molecular, individual, species, societal, mental, or emotional levels.

34 of 117

Morphic Fields: Patterns for self-organizing systems

    • Sheldrake continues:
    • ‘Morphic resonance takes place through morphogenetic fields and indeed gives rise to their characteristic structures. Not only does a specific morphogenetic field influence the form of a system but also the form of this system influences the morphogenetic field and through it becomes present to subsequent similar systems.’ p.96

35 of 117

    • Organisms and events are subject to influence from previous similar organisms/events by morphic resonance.
    • Through morphic resonance, each member of a species subconsciously draws upon, and in turn contributes to a collective memory.
    • This contribution is the source of evolution.

Morphic Relational Resonance

36 of 117

Morphic Fields: Patterns for self-organizing systems

Thus:

    • Structures of self-organizing systems are arranged and fashioned by ‘Morphic fields.’
    • These fields provide the templates for the ways in which organisms develop physically, socially & culturally.
    • Morphic Resonance arises from a shared reality over eons of creative evolution.

37 of 117

Morphic Fields: Patterns for self-organizing systems

    • According to Sheldrake,
    • ‘a given system could be influenced by all past systems with a similar form and pattern of vibration p97
    • The automatic averaging of past forms will result in a spatial probability distribution within the Morphogenetic field , or in other words a probability structure. p98

38 of 117

    • Sheldrake refines his theory by stating that ‘at first the basis of attraction of the morphogenetic fields will be relatively shallow, but it will become progressively deeper as the number of systems contributing to morphic resonance increases’. p. 101

Morphic Relational Resonance

39 of 117

  • Sheldrake does not attempt to explain the origination of species; what he does emphasize is the interconnectedness of all forms of life And the existence fields of information lying outside of space and time.
  • From Sheldrake, p.93
  • ‘What determines the form on the first occasion? No scientific answer can be given: The question concerns unique and energetically indeterminate events which… once they have happened are unrepeatable because they themselves influence all subsequent similar events.’

Morphic Relational Resonance

40 of 117

  • Sheldrake continues:
  • ‘The hypothesis of formative causation is concerned only with the repetition of forms, and not with the reasons for their appearance in the first place.
  • ‘This hypothetical trans-spatial and trans-temporal influence passes through morphogenetic fields and is an essential feature of formative causation.’
  • A new science of life, P.94.

Morphic Relational Resonance

41 of 117

  • Summation:
  • Morphic Resonance results from the complex interaction of a mass of individualized consciousness.
  • A collective consciousness observing and creating a common story.
  • Evolution is guided by Morphogenetic fields in resonance with what has been created before, thus formative causation.

Morphogenetic fields Guide Evolution

42 of 117

    • The Noosphere is the third in a succession of phases of development of the Earth.
    • These three phases are:

Geosphere (inanimate matter) Biosphere (biological life) culminating in the Noosphere (planetary collective karma)

The Noosphere

43 of 117

Noosphere as Planetary Mind

Formative causation & morphic resonance evolutionary processes create the Noosphere

A local subquantum information field of cumulative thought and action from all life on a planet

Noosphere is the common story of a planet’s life.

All planetary life is a conduit of evolving sentient experience from Morphic field to Noosphere.

44 of 117

Noosphere as Planetary Mind

    • The living universe actualizes through the creative transformation & complexification of morphic field patterns.

    • This transformation & complexification finds expression on the ‘local’ level through the experience and self-actualization of all individualized life-forms, experiences which are then stored in the planetary Noosphere.

    • The evolution & expansion of Noosphere reflects evolution of localized consciousness toward the Omega Point unification of all life on a living planet.

45 of 117

Consciousness & the Living Universe

  • Lyall Watson concludes: ‘… some kind of awareness is the experience of all living things.‘Beyond Supernature’ P. 52.
  • Awareness, abilities, wisdom and knowledge grow and become more complex as physical organisms evolve from the simple to the complex.
  • It is the increase in complexity of life forms that enable more evolved levels of consciousness to reside within them. Evolution of life forms and evolution of consciousness within life forms evolve in unison.

46 of 117

Bi-directional Creative Individualism

  • This process is guided by Morphic fields & contributes to an evolving Noosphere
  • Conversely, the process of self-actualization feeds back into the morphic field strengthening morphic resonance.
  • This in turn, feeds into the Noosphere strengthening the Teleological process toward the Omega Point of Unification.

47 of 117

Noosphere, Morphic fields & Reincarnation.

  • Each of us are agents of the evolution of consciousness as we evolve life after life.
  • Consciousness is transformed through creative, individualized self-actualization within each life.
  • This is all part of a Teleological process, where the end purpose designs & defines the structure & cause of the process.
  • The astrological Natal Chart is our treasure map of hidden magic within us we have developed over eons of time in life after life that we may now use in this life to reach higher levels of accomplishment and awareness.

48 of 117

Unconditional and Conditional Consciousness

    • You are one of an infinite number of creative sources of the universe on all its levels of manifestation, material & spiritual creating Noospheres around their cosmic locale.

    • As part of humanity, cherish this creative responsibility with each step you take as you help to create the Noosphere around this planet and expand Morphic fields to guide those who come after you to this world of physical experience.

Synchronicity & Archetypes

Synchronicity & Archetypes are Subconscious Forms of Communication & Connection between cosmic ‘memory’ & individualized consciousness

50 of 117

Resonance, Synchronicity & Archetypes

  • Noosphere, Morphic fields & Akashic Records are fields of information.
  • The individualized consciousness communicates with these fields through resonance.
  • Synchronicity & Archetypes are two forms (i.e., expressions) of resonance.
  • Both are interconnected forms of communication between cosmos & individual

51 of 117

Resonance, Synchronicity & Archetypes

  • Noosphere, Morphic fields & Akashic Records are fields of information.
  • Whereas morphic fields and the Noosphere are universal and planetary fields of information respectively, the Akashic Records are individual accounts of experience through the many lives each of us live.

52 of 117

Resonance, Synchronicity & Archetypes

  • The individualized consciousness communicates with Noosphere, Morphic fields & Akashic Records through resonance created through karmic connections.
  • Synchronicity & Archetypes are two forms (i.e., expressions) of resonance.
  • Both are forms of communication between Fields of information that lie beyond space and time and form a foundation of subconscious communication .

53 of 117

Synchronicity

  • ‘Natural law... Is not absolute… it leaves room for exceptions acausal… real and evident.’
  • ‘When such exceptions operate independently of time and space, linking events in strange and unexpected ways, meaningful coincidences take place.’
  • A description of Wolfgang Pauli & Carl Gustav Jung’s thoughts on Synchronicity from: Lyall Watson, Beyond Supernature, p.20

54 of 117

Synchronicity & Archetypes

  • Carl Jung (Collected Works, Vol. 8) concludes:
  • Synchronicity postulates a meaning which is a priori in relation to human consciousness and apparently exists outside man.  [942]
  • It was modern psychology and parapsychology which proved that causality does not explain a certain class of events and that in this case we have to consider a formal factor, namely synchronicity, as a principle of explanation. [944]
  •  The causality principle asserts that the connection between cause and effect is a necessary one. The synchronicity principle asserts that the terms of a meaningful coincidence are connected by simultaneity and meaning. [916]

55 of 117

Synchronicity & Archetypes

  • Through serendipity, (the discovery of something valuable while looking for something else), synchronicity and archetypes, guidance and insight come to one through deeper, more subconscious channels rather than ‘visible’ cause.
  • Often come in the form of mysterious signs and sudden insights that guide us toward behavior and experience that help us self- actualize.
  • Synchronicity Is a subtle process of communication which connects the inner and outer worlds of human consciousness.
  • Synchronicity is subtle, often expressing itself in serendipitous & unexpected ways.

56 of 117

Synchronicity

  • Synchronicity, in the form of meaningful coincidences pervades all levels of ‘sentience’.
  • The more aware we are, moment by moment of what is happening within the present moment, the more easily we perceive & connect to synchronicity.
  • Spontaneous, unpredictable connection with deeper layers of consciousness guide us toward what we need for creative connection & self-actualization.

57 of 117

Synchronicity: Subtle Relational Connection

  • Synchronicity connects to the ‘psychic fields’ around us, the ‘local’ infinite.
  • Synchronicity involves an objective as well as subjective communication & interaction with much deeper levels of reality.
  • Being open to the present moment, and less embedded in self-concern allows one to perceive more easily moments of synchronicity between self & the flow of surrounding events.

58 of 117

Synchronicity as a Gentle Friend

  • Synchronicity is purposeful.
  • These moments of synchronicity carry subtle messages of ‘insight’ that help one guide their life in a more intelligent manner.
  • The insights which flow to you through synchronicity connect you to the evolving cosmos. You have forever been an integral part of that evolving process & grow with it through purposeful insight.

Humanistic, Transpersonal Astrology & the role of Archetypes

  • The Humanistic, Transpersonal approach to astrology focuses upon potential & actualization of the Self, a Self defined by the Natal Chart.
  • If synchronicity & resonance are mediums of communication between the individual & the Akashic Records & Morphic fields, Archetypes are the patterns of character transmitted via this resonance and synchronicity .
  • Archetypes may be seen as ever-fluxing, evolving categories of evolutionary character.

60 of 117

Astrology: A Map of Connection

  • Astrology helps reveal the teleological, synchronistic evolutionary process that helps guide life’s experience.
  • (From Astrology: the Divine Science; Moore & Douglas, p. 713)
  • ‘…astrology goes beyond the most speculative concepts of present-day physics since it posits the existence of mental, moral and spiritual influences which are the original determinants of all happenings.’
  • ‘Cosmic energies are…shifting streams of vibratory impulses coded to reach their intended targets ...’
  • ‘It is the meaning of the message which determines who it will reach.’

61 of 117

Character & Role of Archetypes

  • The following quotes & citations are from: The Interplay Between the Unconscious and Conscious – and Why It Matters: Chantal le Roux, MSc, Med
  • The archetypes are psychoid—to use the term coined by Jung—in that they consist of and structure both the psyche and matter (Frentz, 2011). These structuring principles, in turn, change according to information from both the psychic and material realms.’

‘The archetypes connect the collective unconscious to the individual consciousness, and the psyche connects events in the physical realm. Archetypes become evident as thoughts and images that contain emotional states (Oschman & Pressman, 2014), so that when an archetype is activated, the related emotions are experienced. These emotions influence our perceptions, and consequently, our behaviour and experiences (Hauke, 2014).’ https://aleftrust.org/the-interplay-between-the-unconscious-and-conscious/

Archetypes and the Natal Chart

Archetypes connect the collective unconscious to the individual consciousness. The experiential wisdom within archetypes bring to the physical mind deeper insights into cognitive & emotional experiences in the physical realm.

The Natal Chart reveals the relationship between the individualizing Self and the archetypes that will guide the Self, consciously or subconsciously in this lifetime.

63 of 117

Archetypes & Individuation

  • Richard Tarnas (https://cosmosandpsyche.com/) defines archetypes in the following way: ‘We can define an archetype as a universal principle or force that affects--impels, structures, permeates--the human psyche and human behavior on many levels.’
  • ‘Archetypes seem to work from both within and without, for they can express themselves as impulses and images from the interior psyche, or as events and situations in the external world.’
  • ‘Archetypes guide one toward individuation through specific experiences.’
  • ‘In terms of individuals, the positions of the planets at the time and place of a person's birth are regarded as corresponding to the basic archetypal patterns of that person's life and character.’

64 of 117

Archetypes and the Natal Chart

Tarnas (Continued)

‘Jung thought of archetypes as the basic constituents of the human psyche, shared cross-culturally by all human beings, and he regarded them as universal expressions of a collective unconscious.’

‘Much earlier, the Platonic tradition considered archetypes to be not only psychological but also cosmic and objective, as primordial forms of a Universal Mind that transcended the human psyche.’

Introduction to Archetypal Astrology, Tarnas

65 of 117

Archetypes and the Natal Chart

Tarnas (Continued)

‘Astrology would appear to support the Platonic view as well as the Jungian, since it gives evidence that Jungian archetypes are not only visible in human psychology, in human experience and behavior, but are also linked to the macrocosm itself--to the planets and their movements in the heavens.’

‘Astrology thus supports the ancient idea of an anima mundi, or world soul, in which the human psyche participates. From this perspective, what Jung called the collective unconscious can be viewed as being ultimately embedded within the cosmos itself.’

Natal Chart as a Mandala of an Evolving Self

  • Carl Jung also saw the ‘wholeness of Self’ as a mandala-like structure representing the unified conscious and unconscious as it manifests in this world.
  • The mandala is, ‘…formation, transformation. Eternal Mind’s eternal recreation. And that is the self, the wholeness of personality,.’
  • https://carljungdepthpsychologysite.blog/2020/04/23/carl-jung-on-mandala-anthology/
  • Gives the citation as Memories, Dreams and Reflections, (Jung) p. 326.
  • It is the positions of the planets and their relationships to each other at time of birth that create pictures of the basic archetypal patterns of an individual’s life and character.
  • Every birth-chart is the mandala of an individual life. A blue-print of the possibilities for individuation & personal evolution for an individual.

67 of 117

Natal Chart as a Mandala of an Evolving Self

  • Dane Rudhyar, the founder of Humanistic Astrology, compares the Natal Chart to a mandala and the mandala’s center where the integration of personality occurs.
  • ‘In interpreting the birth-charts of these individuals-in-the-making, it is therefore advisable and often imperative to assume that at the symbolic center of the birth-chart a centralizing entity — or power of integration — at least partially, perhaps weakly or spasmodically, operates.

Natal Chart as a Mandala of an Evolving Self

  • Rudhyar, (continued)
  • ‘The birth-chart can therefore be considered a mandala; and all mandalas have to have a center and a circumference. Everything that is contained within this circumference should sooner or later be referred to the center. All the contents of the mandala of personality acquire their meaning by being related to the center.’

Archetypes and the Natal Chart

  • The Natal Chart does not determine a person's life. The determination of life is made by the individual moment by moment freely choosing the course of action for that moment. What the Natal Chart does show is the individual’s potential in this life.
  • This potential is in the form of the archetypal structures represented by planets, signs and houses in the Natal Chart, potential that can be communicated to the individual at the appropriate time in their life via Transiting planets making contact with archetypal structures within the Natal Chart.
  • As the individual changes, so does the understanding of the archetypal meaning within the Natal Chart evolve to accommodate the change within the increasingly actualized self.

70 of 117

Archetypes and the Natal Chart

  • The Natal Chart reveals:
  • The relationship between the individualizing Self and the archetypes that will help guide the Self in this lifetime.
  • Which archetypes (as planets) are most influential.
  • The planets’ relationships with each other (Aspects).
  • When and how their potential will be activated in one’s life by the Transiting planets.

Fractals & Resonance: The Process of Structuring

The Structure of Resonance

Are resonance, and the structures of mandalas & archetypes expressions of fractal-like processes?

If so, is the evolution and self-actualization of sentient life guided by fractal processes?

Do ‘fractal processes’ of a similar nature help connect different ‘forms’ of life on similar or ‘parallel’ paths of evolution?

Consider the following on the nature of brain waves.

72 of 117

Brain Wave Activity & the Schumann Resonance

  • Since life began, the Earth has been surrounding and protecting all living things with a natural frequency pulsation of 7.83 HZ—the ancient Indian Rishis called OM.’
  • Schumann Resonance" refers to the frequency of the electromagnetic field of the earth.
  • Whether by coincidence or not, it also happens to be a very powerful frequency to use with brainwave entrainment.https://www.sedonanomalies.com/schumann-resonance.html

73 of 117

Brain Wave Activity & the Schumann Resonance

  • For a decade, Robert Beck researched the brain wave activity of healers from all cultures and religious backgrounds.
  • Independent of their belief systems, each exhibited ‘nearly identical EEG signatures’ during their ‘healing’ moments:’

Nature of Fractal Structuring

Is resonance a product of Fractal Structuring?

The answer to that may be in the basic character of the Fractal process

75 of 117

Nature of Fractal Structuring

The Nature of Fractal structuring is guided by three Basic Components:

  1. Symmetry: Images which can be divided into identical halves are symmetrical.
  2. Recursion; determination of a succession of elements by operation on one or more preceding elements according to a rule or formula
  3. Self-similarity: Being scaled larger or smaller does not change the appearance

Fractals & Resonance: The Process of Structuring

    • Relational resonance is enabled through mutual symmetry, recursion, & self-similarity, & is a key player in the creative structuring of the cosmos & human psyche.
    • The nature of that structuring is exemplified by Mandelbrot type fractal structures such as Fibonacci spirals, (see next slide) which are found on all levels throughout our universe both inorganic and organic.
    • Evolution is guided by the repeating nature (iterations) of Fractal processes. Watch the following highly interesting documentary on Fractals:

The Colors of Infinity: Mandelbrot Sets: Arthur C Clarke, (about 50 minutes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6aznd68jvY

Fibonacci Fractal Spirals

The spiral nature of Fibonacci fractal-like sequences are common in nature as in those below.

From Wikipedia:

‘A tiling with squares whose side lengths are successive Fibonacci numbers: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 and 21. In mathematics, the Fibonacci numbers, commonly denoted Fn, form a sequence, the Fibonacci sequence, in which each number is the sum of the two preceding ones. The sequence commonly starts from 0 and 1, although some authors omit the initial …’

Relational Resonance in the Brain

    • ‘Similar to the way that fractal geometry repeats its patterns in an infinite progression, …our brains operate in a similar manner by having its patterns of interactions reflected at varying scales. …when people engage in more complex thinking, their brain networks organize into a fractal like pattern, but when our thinking is disrupted in some way, those patterns lose their integrity and start to break down.’

Relational Resonance, Fractals & Behavior

    • Human behavior has also been found to have fractal-like structure.
    • ‘The concept of fractal patterns, a central concept of chaos theory, may also be relevant to the study of health behavior change….’
    • ‘Although behavior change may unfold in almost infinite permutations of knowledge, attitude, norms, efficacy, and intention, there may be recurrent patterns of change within individuals as well as between individuals.’ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2446457/

Relational Resonance & Self-actualization

    • An individual’s thoughts and actions are conditioned by previous thoughts and actions structured within the brain in fractal-like patterns.
    • This conditioning is constantly being transformed by the individual’s creative thought and willing within the process of self-actualization.
    • Each thought & action differs incrementally from what preceded it, constantly restructuring the fractal-like pattern of mind & behavior.

82 of 117

Relational Resonance & Self-actualization

    • Each of your thoughts and actions are a product of who you are at any one moment.

    • All your thoughts and actions are fit within the fractal-like structure of the universe, permanent additions within a logical structure of cosmic evolution.

    • You are one of the infinite number of creative sources relationally resonating with an unfolding universe adding to its fractal-like unfolding of beauty & complexity.

    • Your self-actualization of the potential within your Natal Chart is thus an act of cosmic creativity bringing you increasingly clear vision of yourself as a cosmic being.

Dance Between Planets

Planets, houses and geometric aspects

as human energy systems

84 of 117

Natal Chart as Template of Celestial Energy

  • Patterns of mathematical relationships between planets (planetary aspect configurations) represent facets of personality & character potential within the individual Natal Chart .
  • These mathematical aspects & the houses & signs the planets occupy in the Natal Chart reflect celestial patterns in the surrounding cosmos.
  • Thus, the natal chart is a picture of the celestial energies at a specific time and place, energies that correlate with the Karma we have earned from past lives.

Universal Connection of Time, Space & Character

From: Michael R. Meyer, Humanistic Astrology Revisited: The Inner Crises

Challenging Astrology Online article at: http://www.khaldea.com/articles/har1.shtml (CyberWorld Khaldea).

The individual is inseparable from the universal Whole. Each of us is a

particular aspect of the Whole. As Rudhyar writes in Person-Centered

Astrology

… the ‘individual person is the universal Whole, focused at a

particular point in space and in terms of the particular need for it at the

exact moment of its emergence into independent existence.’ (p. 41).

‘An authentic humanistic astrology views every human individual as a

particular aspect of humanity, born at a particular time and place in

answer to a particular cosmic and all-inclusive human need…(thus) the

birth-chart is regarded as one's unique "celestial Name," a sky Signature.’

88 of 117

Universal Connection of Time, Space & Character

(Meyer continues) ‘Humanistic astrology is securely grounded in holistic principles and their operation. It holds that everything is in some way related to everything else. Or, as Marc Jones once put it, "the planets are not like pagan gods, ever meddling in human affairs, but are cosmic bodies conveniently revealing patterns of universal energy.’

  • It is within these ‘patterns of universal energy’ that we are fitted each successive lifetime to resume our actualization, and through our experience, the actualization of the cosmos around us toward greater awareness & spiritual sophistication.

89 of 117

Karma as Imprint of Time, Space & Character

  • Only where & when our karma & character patterns harmonize with these celestial energies can we reincarnate.
  • It is then, when the portal opens and allows those spiritual beings who resonate with that harmony, to enter the physical world.

Natal Chart as Archetypal Fractal Image

  • Thus, the Natal Chart may be viewed as a set of archetypal fractally structured images embodying who you are & who you are becoming.
  • In life, this fractal structure is subtly changed with every insight, understanding, action & decision you make reflecting your ever-changing character.
  • This decision-driven transformation is the process of personal & thus cosmic evolution, for you are an integral part of the cosmos & what happens to and through you happens to the cosmos.

91 of 117

Natal Chart as Fractal Structure

  • .As Julija Simas comments:
  • ‘Something that has helped enlighten my journey of astrological understanding, of why the patterns and cycles of the planets continue to coincide with our lives, is the understanding of astrology as a dynamic fractal like system. That once set off at birth, as a birth chart or as any radix chart a dynamic is carried forward, with its own unique formula and conditions, which then continues to unfurl and unfold as a never-ending fractal like pattern of growth.’

92 of 117

Natal Chart as Fractal Structure

  • Julija Simas (Continued)
  • ‘Seen through an astrological lens we can see how the constant re-engagement with our astrology charts is the feedback loop which renews our astrological fractal pattern and sets off constantly revised and updated versions of the inherent pattern held within. If we envision our astrology charts as alive and constantly vibrating, unfolding and growing like a fractal from any or every point, we can see that as we change, adjust, transform, grow, mature our fractal mandala does the same.’

Natal Chart Defines Abilities & Challenges

  • The Natal Chart shows us how best we can channel & learn from our abilities, challenges, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Combinations of abilities and challenges create specific possible realities and situations for consciousness to play with.
  • We, as spiritual beings having a human experience, are all engaged in a process of creative individualism of increasing complexity within one life & across lives.

94 of 117

Natal Chart Defines Abilities & Challenges

  • An astrological natal chart details the nature of one’s inclinations, creative impulses, & attributes bundled into a fluxing personality
  • This ‘flux’ results from the creative dynamism of inner psychological, emotional tension and outer social relational tension as individuals pursue their unique life purpose through the differing stages in life.

95 of 117

Erik Erikson's Stages of Psychosocial Development suggest some archetypal-like stages in this process that might be consulted & studied in conjunction with the study of one’s Natal Chart

96 of 117

Cosmos, Karmic Inheritance & the Natal Chart

  • The natal chart Is a template of dominant traits, strengths, and weaknesses, abilities and challenges.
  • Of the role an individual may play in the creative evolution of spirit, mind and physical world.
  • Of how one’s karmic inheritance ‘fits’ with & can progress current evolutionary forces.

97 of 117

Cosmic Portal and the Natal Chart

  • The Natal Chart describes nature of the conditioning portal each soul or spirit must pass through from unconditioned to conditioned states of consciousness in order to have an incarnated physical experience.
  • The Natal Chart describes the potential and challenges we as unconditioned spirit use as tools in our creative experience within conditional reality.

98 of 117

Cosmic Portal and the Natal Chart

    • The seeds of who you are & of your potential are found in your Natal Chart
  • The Natal Chart defines the possibilities for transformation of spirit while incarnating into the ‘material’ world.
  • The Natal Chart is also the interface between present life and past incarnations.

99 of 117

Natal Chart as Set of Karmic Keys

  • The energies we have created in the past are now available to us for this life’s creative efforts at actualization.
  • A template or blueprint of how we might express our consciousness in new ways to achieve new insight & expanded awareness.
  • Abilities and challenges in the natal chart are karmic keys that fit a specific space/time pattern within the present universe and our lives.

100 of 117

Natal Chart as Living, Evolving Template

  • Abilities and challenges within the Natal Chart evolve as we evolve deepening our understanding of our potential.
  • This allows us to perceive more deeply into the natal chart, thus into ourselves as life progresses.
  • Study of the Natal Chart provides greater understanding of inner experience, and the ways in which one reacts to the world.
  • A lifelong study of oneself as an ever-evolving self within an evolving universe of relational consciousness.

101 of 117

Our Incredible Potential & Destiny

  • When this creative impetus occurs on a mass scale, it becomes an incredible engine of material, psychic and spiritual innovation and evolution.
  • This results in new belief systems, realities, new societies, new cultures & new technologies.
  • Leads to new potential into which we may be reborn to continue the elevation and creation of new worlds filled with Increasing compassion, insight and benevolent connection between all forms of life and consciousness.

102 of 117

Evolution & the Law of Resonance

  • Mass creative impetus is enabled through synergy between those with evolutionarily related planetary alignments and corresponding sets of karmic attributes
  • This synergy provides resonance between the individual & the social, cultural & temporal environs being born into.
  • On a cosmic level, resonance enables serendipity & synchronicity to operate seamlessly within the conditional (incarnated) actualization process.

103 of 117

Karmic Orientation as Place Marker

  • The presence of resonance thus enables maximum communion, creativity, individual and collective transformation & actualization for each individual life form as they contribute their life experience to the cosmic whole.
  • In what way each resonates conventionally & unconventionally with the world around them, guides their contribution to the creative evolution of the conditioned world.
  • Life after life, reincarnational roles follow threads of previous roles in other lives.
  • One’s present & ongoing role is one’s karmic orientation or place-marker in a wave of evolving beingness, i.e., structured, crystalized consciousness.

.

104 of 117

Relational Resonance Marker

  • Thus, one’s karmic place marker is determined by one’s relational resonance to evolutionary resonance, which in turn is an artifact of one’s evolutionary proximity to specific social environs & events.
  • We exist only in relationship to our place in the cosmic unfolding of evolution…thus…despite our feelings of individualism…
  • There is no isolation, except in our own minds. It is our focus upon our mentally conditioned reality which creates our sense of the world as a mass of separate ‘beings’.

105 of 117

Relational Resonance & Focus of Awareness

  • This reciprocal interaction between you, karmic evolutionary processes and the conditional world is the foundation of both soc/cultural evolution and self actualization.
  • The ‘conditional’ experience occurs through a concentrated focus of awareness upon the material world to the exclusion of other possible realities.
  • The Natal Chart shows the contribution one may make to the evolution of self & society toward a more expanded awareness through self-actualization as a spiritual being.

106 of 117

Our Conditional Experience is Mesmerizing

  • Within this mesmerizing experience, don’t forget, we are all equal beings, yet we are all different beings within our creative unfolding of character.
  • Within the dynamics of our relationships with each other lie the creative complexity from which our universe evolves.
  • Any expression of energy is creative; thus, all relational interactions are creative.
  • Yet, this is not chaos; there is a mysterious order to this incredibly complex ongoing creativity.

107 of 117

A Mysterious Order

Consider for example:

‘The number of stars in a typical Galaxy is the same as the number of galaxies in the universe.

The age of the universe, expressed in nuclear units, is the same as the number of charged particles in it.

The electric force between two protons is the same as the gravitational force between them.

And all these measurements, hover around the same unimaginably large number. The huge and mystic 10 to the power of 40.’

Lyall Watson: Beyond Supernature. p. 30

108 of 117

A Mysterious Order

  • In other words, there are physical parameters providing structure and guidance to evolution of the universe.
  • Does this also help to guide the creativity within free-willed sentient relationships?
  • Does our free-will energize, activate & help guide this creative process?
  • If so, then each of us come into this world only when we as a creative force ‘fit’ within the relational dynamics of evolution. We are destined to be born at a certain time and place and to transform that society and ourselves in our own unique creative way.

109 of 117

Natal Chart as template of Karmic Reserve

  • Only when the attributes we have accrued as individual spiritual beings (karma) fit within the evolving character of celestial energies within a specific time, location & social/cultural fabric.
  • The Natal Chart is a template or blueprint of abilities and challenges from our karmic reserve we bring into the world. It is the interface between present life, past incarnations & cosmic ‘memory’.
  • The energies we have created in the past are now available to us for this life’s creativity.
  • We are the engines of evolution. Does that not empower you? Does that not inform you of the incredible responsibility you have to yourself and all other living beings?

110 of 117

Natal Chart Choreographs Life’s Dance of Self-expression

  • Astrology is a template or blueprint of how we might express or manifest our consciousness in any specific incarnation.
  • It defines the abilities, challenges & circumstances through which we might find a sense of creative individualism.
  • The choreography of this Dance of Self-expression may be revealed through the nature of the planets, mathematical relations between planets, the meanings of celestial houses & signs in the Astrological Natal Chart.

111 of 117

The Role of Creative Individualism .

  • The fluxing energies in our celestial environment
  • crystallize our consciousness at birth with unique abilities, challenges & circumstances
  • Through the conditioned experience of this crystallized Self within the physical world, a sense of creative individualism arises. This creative individualism is the force with which we help to collectively create the world around us in conjunction with other individuals.

112 of 117

Rising Above Cultural Programming

  • Self-actualization Is an interplay between the individual and the sociocultural environment which changes both. Through self-actualization the individual slowly rises above their social cultural programming and becomes more freely creative, unbound by traditional programming and in so doing transforms society and culture.

113 of 117

Rising Above Cultural Programming

  • The more individualistic, the more diverse and varied they are as creative engines of evolution for both the individual and society. The value of the Natal Chart is that it allows an individual to see more deeply into their inherent nature freeing them from the dictates of society and its belief systems.

Summary: Cosmos and the Natal Chart

  • Essentially then,
  • Your Natal Chart shows where & how you fit within this current version of the world so that within your own experiential transformation and actualization, you may have a more tangible impact upon transformation of this world toward a utopian consciousness.
  • As such, you are an essential piece in a dynamic, seemingly chaotic, but fractally creative, evolving picture of local & universal manifestation.
  • Do not be blinded to the importance of your efforts by an over-focus upon the habituation of daily life, nor by the silliness of self-importance, for we are all in this together.

Summary: What & Where is Reality?

  • Robert Lanza sums up our cosmic experience succinctly in The Grand Biocentric Design, p. 71. (Speaking of the latest theories in quantum physics which suggests consciousness and the act of observation are essential ingredients in the creation of our universe, as well as space and time …)
  • ‘As Heinz Pagels, an esteemed theoretical physicist once said, “If you deny the objectivity of the world, unless you observe it and are conscious of it (as many physicists have), then you end up with solipsism—the belief that your consciousness is the only one.”
  • ‘Pagels conclusion was right. Only according to biocentrism, it isn't your consciousness that is the only one, it is ours. Our individual separateness is an illusion. After all, if space and time do not exist in any absolute sense, then in what way can we think of things as being separate? There is one single consciousness. What is ‘focal’ (what you experience as yourself) is this single consciousness manifesting itself in various different ways.
