Open only one test unit at a time. (This BEST PRACTICE for ALL TESTS!)Once a student starts a test unit, they must complete that test unit, even if other students are not taking that same test unit.

Important!

AASA - Computer-Based Test Units

Examples:

    • Students are taking ELA Reading Unit I and a student was mistakenly approved for Unit 2. The student should continue testing in Unit 2.

    • If the student notices the mistake and closes the test unit before telling you, instruct the student to sign back into the incorrect session they started and continue working.

Preparing the Testing Room

  • Campus protocol should be established for entering and exiting the testing environment.
  • Each testing room should have a “Testing–Do Not Disturb” sign on its door.
  • All visual aids displayed in the testing room that could assist students while testing must be removed or covered completely prior to any test session.
  • Any motivational signs, apparel, or activities are not permitted in the testing environment.
  • Arrange student seating so that students cannot easily see each other’s test materials and so that the Test Administrator(s) and Proctor(s) can freely circulate the room to monitor testing.
  • Computers should be open and logged into TestNav and the Appropriate Testing Site, prior to students entering the room.

  • Students’ desks and tables should be cleared of backpacks, personal electronic devices, and unnecessary materials prior to the beginning of testing.

Students Who Leave School During Testing

Students who leave due to illness, parent request, etc., are ineligible to continue the test for that

test unit.

The Test Administrator should inform the student that they will not be permitted to finish that test unit when the student returns to school.

The Test Administrator collects any materials the student has and reminds the CBT student to submit their test.

If the student returns to school during the testing window, he or she may begin testing on any test unit that has not yet been started.

Additional Time

For Computer-Based Testing:

If the student must be moved to another computer or room, the student must sign out of their test. The Test Administrator must “Resume” the student’s test unit before they sign back into their test.

Students may not go to lunch, as it is considered a break, but lunch may be brought to the student, if necessary.

Most students should have time to finish the test during the allotted time. Students who are working productively and require additional time must be allowed to complete the test during that school day. Follow the procedures established by your Test Coordinator for those students who need additional time to complete the test.

Students may not continue testing beyond the regularly scheduled school day!
