-Off center fed dipole installed on tower, Yagi and dipole give us coverage from 80 through 10 meters

-440 repeater from Fire Training center moved here, up and running, very good coverage

BOUVET UPDATE, 3YØK

-Most remote uninhabited place in the world

-More people have been in outer space than have set foot on Bouvet

-Plan to leave Cape Town, South Africa on February 1

-Likely to be on island about February 15th

-Will try to be on island for 2 weeks

-Icebreaker and Helicopter rented

-$1.7 Million dollar attempt

-Could be workable from our club station

BOUVET ISLAND

DESECHEO DXPEDITION KP5/NP3VI

-Some DXCC entities are rare because they are hard to get to and in dangerously remote areas

-Others are rare because of government restrictions

-Bouvet is in the first category, Desecheo is in the second

-15 miles from PR, wildlife sanctuary

-Everything that goes onto the island must be cleaned, cleaning is required as part of the Bio Security Protocol

-Two solar powered stations will be placed on the island and operated remotely from PR (or anywhere)

-May be activated around mid January

Bob, AD4Y has agreed to run for club president

Justin, KYØKSP has agreed to stay on as VP

  • Toby, KF4LHN has agreed to stay on as treasurer
  • Carol, K4SAF has decided not to run for secretary
  • Danny, WØJMP will run for secretary
  • Any nominations from the floor?
