PLAGIARISM:

Plagiarism is to take and pass off others’ ideas or words as your own. Plagiarism is a serious breach of academic conduct. It is important for students to use their own original ideas and words for every assignment to become independent thinkers and writers. When using evidence for research or responding to a text dependent question, it is mandatory to use quotations and cite sources in correct MLA format. ILMS does not tolerate plagiarism or cheating. If this occurs, the student will receive a zero on the assignment (resubmission subject to teacher discretion) and/or discipline referral.

Note: Work written by AI is considered plagiarism as it is not your original work and will be subject to the plagiarism policy.

Homework Policy:

Nightly homework is not regularly assigned. However, students can expect to be required to:

  • Complete independently paced weekly assignments
  • Complete any assignments not finished in class
  • Work on long-term projects as assigned
  • Study/review notes for assessments
  • Read for 15-20 minutes per day (sustained, silent reading)

Grading Policy:

Grades are posted in a timely manner on PowerSchool, typically within seven (7) calendar days. All students should regularly access their progress. Log-in information can be found on students’ schedules or obtained from the main office.

Students should complete all assignments by the due date posted on Google Classroom. All work is subject to grading, therefore students are encouraged to do their very best work at all times.

Grades on PowerSchool are indicated in the following manner: minor classwork assignments (1x); major classwork assignments/comprehension checks/quizzes/writing assignments (2x); tests/projects/major writing assignments (3x). Test days are announced at least one week in advance; these tests are multiple choice and/or free response.

This class will adhere to the ILMS retake policy that offers retakes on test grades below 70% to students who first attend tutoring.

The teacher will monitor and adjust classroom procedures and schedules as needed.

For specific course objectives and standards, please visit the South Carolina Department of Education at www.ed.sc.gov.

Late Work:

All students will have five (5) days to turn in a late/missing assignment for it to count in the grade book. The five days will start from the day that the assignment was due. Each day that an assignment is late will result in 10 points being deducted. After the fifth day, a zero will be given and the assignment is no longer eligible for submission. In the event of an absence, we will adhere to the ILMS absence policy.
