This “. . . is [my son’s] 10-12 page research paper he did for his PSEO comp 2 class. The thick part…on the right… is copies of his source material that he had to turn in. It is 50-60 pages of articles, copyright material, pictures of videos of interviews, etc. Just like what we are training in script submission . . .

Presentation Script

Presentation Script

Google Doc of word-for-word copy of exactly what the presenter is going to say. Include your name, event and tournament date in the top corner (right or left) of the first page.

Quoted words highlighted in presentation script

Highlight all directly quoted words of someone other than yourself.

  • YSG 1 Storytelling: because you cannot add any original words to your presentation, you will highlight the entire script.
  • For all other interpretations, you will highlight only the words you take directly from your piece(s) of literature or those you quote from another source.

Works Cited Page

The last page of the presentation script is a Works Cited page. This is a listing all the resources referenced (cited) in the presentation.

  • This includes books, articles, interviews, lectures, website, etc.
  • Any source that is listed on the Works Cited page should be verbally referenced in the speech.
  • Sources should be listed alphabetically, using a standard citation format

URLs alone are not acceptable as a means of citing a source.

A Google Doc or pdf of the original literature used for an interpretation. Only the pages the presenter is actually quoting from need to be included.

  • Includes the copyright page of source used
  • All the words spoken will be highlighted
    • This example is for YSG2, only spoken words are highlighted
    • YSG1 Storytelling - all words will be highlighted because all words are spoken

(Computer-Assisted Presentation Only)

An outline of what the speaker will say during his presentation. It should contain heading and subheadings of organized information using sentences, key words or phrases.

  • Include your name, event and tournament date in the top corner of the first page.
  • Include references to sources on Works Cited page

Total Number of Words

The total word count of the Presentation Script. Most word processing programs will provide this.

Total Number of Quoted Words

The number of words within quotation marks that are directly quoted in the Presentation Script. (Highlighted words)

Percentage of Quoted Words

The total number of quoted words, divided by the total number of words, then multiplied by 100 will give the percentage.

(Total # Quoted words / Total # words) X 100 = %

Submit the entire Script Submission Notebook to your sponsor for review at least 5 days prior to the Script Submission deadline

Allow time

  • for your sponsor to review and
  • To make any needed corrections

Submit the entire Script Submission Notebook to ICCFS by entering the link to your notebook on the Script Submission Form.

Script Submission Notebooks must be submitted to ICCFS by the deadline for your tournament

Make sure to follow directions for file sharing

  • You must change the share setting to “Anyone in ICC may view”
  • You must transfer ownership of the file to ICCFS@iccinc.org

Ownership of Files

:

YSG1: Do not change the ownership of the files. After the tournament, you may want to make adjustments to your scripts as you take them into the community.

YSG2/3/G: You must change ownership of the speech files to ICCFS. Be sure that ALL speech event files are shared with “Anyone in ICC can view.” You will change ownership of the Script Submission Notebook to ICCFS.
