PHILOSOPHY IN THE CLASSROOM

• Maximize instructional time and student discourse.

• We are failing kids by allowing them not to fail.
• “Struggle creates progress.”
• Students need to eat well, sleep more, exercise more, and limit unproductive screen time, to do better in school.
• If time is variable, learning is constant. If time is constant, learning is variable.

Problem of the Week & Performance Tasks

Provides students opportunity to investigate complex, interesting problems. Their purpose is to focus on the process of solving complex problems. Students will be evaluated on their ability to show, explain, and justify their work and thoughts.

• You will be given an opportunity to make-up a test after you have completed the assigned practice tasks your teacher will have provided you.

• Late work are generally not accepted

• Students have 1 month to complete this project
• No late work will be accepted.
• 5 week progress report (available after next week).
• For the 5 week reporting period - students will receive:
• M (Meets Standard) or D/F (Not Meeting Standards).
