En esta lección aprenderemos cómo utilizar los siguientes verbos en inglés:

USED TO (SOLÍA): Utilizamos esta estructura en “simple past” cuando queremos referirnos a una acción que “solíamos” realizar en el pasado (I used to study at night).
BE USED TO (ESTAR ACOSTUMBRADO): Utilizamos esta estructura cuando queremos referirnos a una acción o situación a la cual estamos o estábamos acostumbrados (I’m used to studying at night).
GET USED TO (ESTAR ACOSTUMBRÁNDOSE): Utilizamos esta estructura cuando queremos referirnos a una acción a la cual nos estamos acostumbrando (I’m getting used to studying at night).

Utilizamos el verbo “used to” cuando queremos referirnos a situaciones que solían suceder en el pasado. Utilizamos este verbo exclusivamente en tiempo verbal “simple past”

Pero recordemos que el modal “would” también tiene un segundo caso de uso:
se puede utilizar para referirnos a situaciones que solían suceder en el pasado
En este caso, la estructura “used to” tiene el mismo sentido que el modal
“would” cuando se utiliza para hablar de situaciones que solían suceder
en el pasado:
¿Recuerdas el uso del verbo modal “would”? Usualmente utilizamos este verbo modal para referirnos a situaciones condicionales imaginarias. En español, usualmente traducimos el modal “would” como la terminación “ía” en el verbo base:
I would love to win the lottery
Me encantaría ganar la lotería
I would play hide and seek every day with my friends
Solía jugar a las escondidas todos los días con mis amigos
I used to play hide and seek every day with my friends
Solía jugar a las escondidas todos los días con mis amigos

BE USED TO
estar acostumbrado
Utilizamos el verbo compuesto “be used to” cuando queremos indicar que estamos o estábamos acostumbrados a algo.
Cabe destacar que en este caso, el verbo secundario que seleccionemos para nuestra oración debe ir con “ing” (gerundio).
I was used to studying alone
Yo estaba acostumbrado a estudiar solo
She is not used to staying up late
Ella no está acostumbrada a quedarse despierta hasta tarde

Utilizamos el verbo compuesto “get used to” normalmente en “present continuous” cuando nos queremos referir al proceso de estar acostumbrándose a algo.
Cabe destacar que en este caso, el verbo secundario que seleccionemos para nuestra oración debe ir con “ing” (gerundio).
I’m getting used to studying alone
Yo me estoy acostumbrado a estudiar solo
También podemos utilizar “get used to” sin un verbo secundario…
I’m getting used to school
Me estoy acostumbrando a la escuela
Are you getting used to working so much?
